About Rí Rá Las Vegas

Crafted in the warm pub style of 19th century Ireland, Rí Rá Las Vegas is located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place.  The authentic Irish pub features a multitude of artifacts that were carefully restored in Wicklow, Ireland and shipped to their new home in Las Vegas.  Rí Rá Las Vegas contains an authentic Victorian Shop bar that began its life in Ireland in the 1880s, a whiskey bar adorned with an original glazed jewelry cabinet from 1900, an oak floor from a whiskey distillery and an 8-foot-tall, 500-pound carved plaster statue of St. Patrick dating back to 1850.  The pub hosts live entertainment seven nights a week in a music room constructed with artifacts dating back to 1890 from the Olympia Theater in Dublin, Ireland.  Born and raised in Dublin, Rí Rá Las Vegas owners David Kelly and Ciaran Sheehan have been close friends since they were 14-years-old. Kelly and Sheehan later partnered with Jay Luther, whom Kelly met while working for Guinness. Rí Rá Las Vegas is the 12th pub the trio has opened in the U.S.

Grandma Lee Of ‘America’s Got Talent’ Fame Coming To The King’s Room On May 31

Grandma Lee will be doing her standup comedy at The King’s Room at 7 p.m. beginning on Thursday, May 31 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and ironically she turns 78 on the week that she opens.

Grandma Lee of America's Got Talent

She first played comedy in Las Vegas at the LOUIE ANDERSON THEATER at the Palace Station and now she’s back for a two-month engagement Thursdays through Sundays at 7 p.m.  She gained her fame on “America’s Got Talent” and has been the hottest senior citizen comic in America since then.

She was born Lee Strong on May 29, 1934 making her 77 years old. Her stage name is Grandma Lee to fit her persona. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK. She was married to a U.S. Marine, named Ben Strong, she reared four children. She was a newspaper reporter and a phone operator before she tried her hand at comedy.  Her husband died of cancer in 1995 and she attended a comedy workshop.

It was 2009, at age 75, when she appeared on “America’s Got Talent.”  Although she made it to the Top 10, she was in the bottom 5 and was eliminated from the competition. She told People Magazine, “My material is based on the truth. I go up there and wing it…but I had to clean up the show. I won’t say a cuss word or anything to jeopardize myself. I can do clean and edgy.”

At her Houston audition, one of her jokes was, “I’ve decided that when I die, I want to be cremated and have my ashes sprinkled over Krispy Kreme. That way I know my fat daughter-in-laws will come down and visit me a couple of times a week. With the positive feedback from the judges and a cheering audience encore, she had gained 90 seconds of fame instantly. The judges said that they loved her timing, the material was great and that it was an honor to have her on the show. Her sassy and quick-witted sense of humor has gained her notoriety. The material she had used included sexual innuendo, her family and the judges.

She will perform on Eddie Griffin’s days off at The King’s Room in their comedy club. Tickets are $72.60 for general admission, $95.10 for VIP and $182.05 for the show plus a meet –and-greet with Grandma Lee after the show. For show tickets call (702) 777-7776.
