Aria At CityCenter Names Poker Room For Poker Great Phil Ivey
The ARIA Resort & Casino Poker Room will officially reveal its exclusive one-table high-limit room to guests Saturday, May 22. Named in honor of seven-time World Series of Poker Champion and popular professional Phil Ivey, ‘The Ivey Room’ will offer poker players the opportunity to play some of the world’s highest-limit games in Las Vegas’ newest and hottest resort.
“We were thrilled that Phil agreed when we asked if he would consider putting his name on our high-limit room. Phil is a great guy, a long-time friend both of the MGM MIRAGE family and mine personally, and remains a fan favorite in the world of poker,” said Bill McBeath, president and chief operating officer of ARIA Resort & Casino at CityCenter.
To commemorate the special occasion and grand opening of ‘The Ivey Room,’ ARIA will host a $1 million VIP Poker Tournament for its customers Saturday, May 22. Participants in the invited-guest-only event will compete for the $250,000 first-place prize and an opportunity to earn $100,000 for knocking Ivey out of the event. The overall tournament winner will play in a heads-up match against Ivey in ‘The Ivey Room’ with a shot at earning an additional $250,000.
Ivey was flattered when asked by McBeath and said, “I am honored that Bill and the entire team at ARIA have decided to place my name on their one-table high-limit room. With its recent opening in December, ARIA has established itself as a leader in the gaming industry and I look forward to playing at ARIA’s Poker Room soon.”
Professionals and amateur poker players will have the opportunity to enjoy the comfort of ‘The Ivey Room’ while playing a variety of games including, but not limited to, No Limit Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, Pot Limit Omaha, 2-7 Triple Draw, Chinese Poker, Omaha 8-or-better and mixed games. Unique to poker rooms worldwide, ‘The Ivey Room’ features direct player access to the Poker Room cashier cage where guests can utilize one of 480 safety deposit boxes. ‘The Ivey Room’ provides guests 24-hour tableside dining, complimentary beverage service from the friendliest cocktail servers in the industry, an overhead state-of-the-art music system and three 42-inch television monitors for viewing sporting events or other programming.
In addition to ‘The Ivey Room,’ the ARIA Poker Room is home to 24 tables including 18 on the main floor and five additional tables in an elevated room and has quickly become one of the city’s most popular poker destinations.
