Las Vegas Circa 1991 Driving The Strip from the Welcome Sign
Video tour of Las Vegas Blvd. (The Strip) from 1991 starting at the iconic Welcome To Las Vegas sign and heading north. You can see the old Hacienda hotel (imploded to make way for Mandalay Bay), Glass Pool Inn, Excalibur (no Luxor yet) and Tropicana which has been unchanged on the outside but is now undergoing a $100 million renovation. The area that eventually became New York, New York stands empty.
From The Aladdin (now Planet Hollywood), you can see all the way to Caesars and The Mirage. The Dunes sign is visible and would soon give way to the construction of The Bellagio.
You can see the steamboat motif that Harrah’s had. It was called the Holiday Casino at the time.
The Mirage volcano looked different and sat across the street from The Sands (now Venetian/Palazzo).
The Sahara has not changed much (except that Wet N Wild is no longer next door) and the tour ends with Bob Stupak’s Vegas World (pre Stratosphere Tower).
