Spend Mother’s Day Weekend At ArtfestTM of Henderson
The City of Henderson will present the 12th annual ArtFestTM of Henderson, May 9-10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., daily, at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Admission is free.
“ArtFestTM of Henderson continues to be a fantastic Mother’s Day weekend tradition,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “The annual festival draws over 40,000 attendees a year and has helped define Henderson as a threshold for the arts.”
The event will feature over 100 select artisan booths displaying and selling a variety of artwork including paintings, ceramics, jewelry and photography. Other family-friendly activities include two stages of live entertainment, Kids’ Gallery, food booths and more.
ArtFestTM of Henderson attracts such artists as Mario Cespedes, a nationally and internationally recognized painter. His contemporary designs are a unique blend of colors and textures inspired by his homeland of South America. Cespedes’ work has been profiled in such publications as Southwest Art, The Arizona Daily and the Los Angeles Times. He is also notable for his outdoor murals displayed in Arizona and California.
This year, organizers have added a new element to the street fair. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Green Valley, “Piazza Colori” will showcase a number of chalk creations inside a concrete square at the Henderson Events Plaza. Cash prizes will be awarded.
