City Of Henderson Brings Shakespeare’s Macbeth To Las Vegas Neighborhoods In October

For the first time in over 20 years, the City of Henderson is taking its Shakespeare in the Park series on the road in October with productions of one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, Macbeth, featuring the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company. The schedule has been expanded to include a four Saturday tour, which begins October 2, at four different locations. All performances begin at 7 p.m. Admission is complimentary.

Saturday, October 2 7 p.m. River Mountain Park (1941 Appaloosa Drive)
Saturday, October 9 7 p.m. Lake Las Vegas (1600 Lake Las Vegas Parkway)
Saturday, October 16 7 p.m. Discovery Park (2011 Paseo Verde Parkway)
Saturday, October 23 7 p.m. Sonata Park (1550 Seven Hills Drive)

“We wanted to make our premier performing arts and culture programming more accessible to the community,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “By adding dates and locations to the Shakespeare in the Park series, we’re giving our residents the opportunity to experience the magic of live performance in their own neighborhood.”

Macbeth will be performed by the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company (LVSC), the resident, professional non-profit theatre company that has presented an assortment of Shakespeare plays, as well as other performances over the past two years. In addition, LVSC will participate in the Shakespeare in the Schools program, which is an ongoing partnership with the Clark County School District, Public Education Program and the City of Henderson.

“Every play is full of multiple meanings and none more than Shakespeare’s Macbeth,” says Dan Decker, Artistic Director of LVSC. “The play teaches us that there is an active choice between good and evil that we all have to make.”

The City of Henderson has been presenting the complimentary Shakespeare in the Park series since its inception. It has grown into a tradition for thousands of Henderson, as well as Las Vegas valley families.
