Mi Casa Grill Cantina At Silverton Casino Lodge Awarded The Illuminating Engineering Society’s 2008 “Award of Merit”
Mi Casa Grill Cantina inside Silverton Casino Lodge has been awarded the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America’s (IES) 2008 “Award of Merit” for its innovative lighting scheme.
IES, recognized as the technical authority on illumination, praises Mi Casa Grill Cantina for featuring bright, vibrant lighting that reflects the spirit of Mexican art. In the bar area, strands of individually-addressable LED nodes illuminate bottles displayed on tiered shelving while light displays such as a rolling color effect, color chase and a slow color fade from tier to tier dazzle patrons. Additionally, hand painted glass color globes embedded in Mi Casa Grill Cantina’s walls add to the festive atmosphere of the restaurant. Each sphere is illuminated with colorful effects including a slow color fade, random flash and strobe effect fading from one color to another.
“The best lighting scheme is one that complements the architecture, accentuates the interior finishes and décor, and sets the right mood,” said Mi Casa Grill Cantina’s lighting designer George Huang of Paul Steelman Design.
IES’ International Illumination Design Awards program recognizes ingenuity and originality in lighting design. Judges are selected from a wide professional spectrum representing knowledge of lighting and design excellence.
