Billy Joel Returns To MGM Grand To Celebrate Valentine’s Day With A Marathon Of Hits
Billy Joel will make his triumphant return to Las Vegas with an appearance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, Feb. 14 as part of a limited number of shows in select cities this winter. The engagement will be one of the first in North America since his record-breaking and critically acclaimed “Last Play at Shea” at New York’s Shea Stadium in July 2008. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Since his worldwide return to the stage in 2006, more than one million people have seen BILLY JOEL in peak form, delivering more than two hours of hits at each performance. Several house records have been broken along the way including a record 22nd lifetime appearance at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn., a sixth record sellout at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. and a historic and unprecedented 12-show, sold-out run at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden. In July 2008, BILLY JOEL became the only artist to sell-out three of New York’s outdoor sporting venues including Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium and Giants Stadium.
Between May and July 2008, BILLY JOEL performed for nearly 100,000 people at 10 sold-out shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The run generated the highest grossing casino box office figure outside of Las Vegas and Governor Jodi Rell honored the pop icon by declaring June 26 “BILLY JOEL DAY.”
