“Past Oscar Night® America events in Las Vegas have been the standard formal-type affair, but this year, especially with the current economic condition, the party will be very different,” said Jimmy Foster, CEO of Whispering Giants, who is helping to organize the event. “This year we’re trying to appeal to a broader base of support for the Arthritis Foundation as well as provide a livelier nightclub atmosphere. The event will include a variety of options where guests can decide to either enjoy a traditional sit-down dinner, or experience the night in a true ‘cocktail party’ atmosphere including private booths and bottle service. Rain Nightclub recently made some audio-visual renovations so guests will be able to enjoy the telecast using state-of-the-art equipment, which includes 67 plasma video screens strategically situated around the club.”
As the anticipation builds and winners are announced, the Arthritis Foundation will honor three of Southern Nevada’s most generous philanthropists for their dedication to the community. Las Vegas local Glynda Rhodes and Zappos.com will receive the ‘Commitment to Community Award’ for support and community involvement in many of Las Vegas’s charitable organizations. This year’s ‘Cathy Ray Community Health Award’ will be presented to long-time Las Vegas physician and philanthropist, Parvin Modaber-Jacobs, MD.
