Before writing one of the most heartfelt patriotic anthems in American history, Lee Greenwood was a farmboy with a love for music and could play nearly every instrument in his school orchestra by age 14. Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock met in 1975 while performing in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Performing ’80s hits such as Blondie’s “One Way Or Another” and Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” The Whip Its have made a name for themselves in Las Vegas with their blend music and witty narrative. The group is made up of a unique ensemble of performers including vocal duo Dieter (inspired by “Sprockets” on Saturday Night Live) and Ivana Hump, a Euro dominatrix that commands the stage (and the attention of the audience) with a whip and leather ensemble. Completing the retro vibe, the singers are backed by a full band dressed as “Devo drones.”

Formed in 1995, in demand ’80s tribute band Loveshack brings their high-energy act to the Suncoast. Singing all of the great ’80s tunes by Human League, The Go Go’s, Madonna, Duran Duran, Soft Cell and New Order. Lesley Gore is most recognized for “It’s My Party,” a song that catapulted her to stardom in 1963 at the age of 16. Cheap Trick, the Sgt. Pepper Symphony Orchestra and even an authentic Indian Sitar band, rocked their live interpretation of the classic album. Guests were on their feet as Cheap Trick literally brought down the house as thousands of paper hearts floated from the ceiling during the finale of “All You Need Is Love.” The band also included some of their classic hits and fan favorites including “Surrender” and “I Want You To Want Me”.

With one of rock music’s most recognizable voices, Mickey Thomas joined Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist in the late 1970’s and immediately scored a #1 hit with “Jane.” The group renamed themselves Starship and Thomas launched the band to fame with the #1 hits “We Built This City” and “Sara.” Their platinum album “Knee Deep in the Hoopla” spawned several more charting tracks including “Tomorrow Doesn’t Matter Tonight,” and “Before I Go.” In 1987, the band received an Oscar nomination for the song “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” from the movie “Mannequin” and the same year, Major League Baseball adopted the Starship song “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over” as its theme.

Julio Iglesias is being awarded the Maximum Hispanic Pride (Máximo Orgullo Hispano) award by the Las Vegas International Press Association.

He is also being awarded by Clark County Commissioners as they are naming June 10 “Julio Iglesias Day.” This day marks the first of his 2010 Las Vegas concert series.

Iglesias will be performing at the Las Vegas Hilton June 10, 11 and 12. The show starts at 8 p.m. each night.

A musical theatre aficionado and performer, O’Connor’s critically acclaimed cabaret thrill ride broke records at Hollywood’s Celebration Theatre this past February and received a back-by-popular-demand second run and accolades from Broadway luminaries and press alike.

Self-described as a “big gay singing Kathy Griffin,” O’Connor’s dynamic, hilarious and oddly touching musical journey told through song and story. Also along for the ride, is his best friend Lucas Coatney, who plays back-up singer and on-stage sidekick to O’Connor. In addition to having toured nationally with various theatre groups, Lucas also appeared on the third season of “American Idol.”
