O’Rhumbar Goes Irish For St. Patrick’s Day

Rhumbar Patio
RHUMBAR, the stylish cocktail lounge at The Mirage, will go all Irish this St. Patrick’s Day – with an Irish DJ, Irish shots, Irish beer and of course, Irish Car Bombs; the only thing missing is the kilt.

The fun kicks off on Wednesday, March 17, with sexy emcee, Elissa and her lucky Leprechaun co-host, who will have just about everyone doing the Irish jig. A pair of Irish DJs will be spinning Irish bar favorites and all the U2 one could ever want outside on the gorgeous, 3,000-square-foot patio, while the beautiful RHUMBAR cocktail waitresses will keep the drinks-a-flowin’. $5 green Coors Light drafts, Guinness, George Killian’s Irish Red and Irish Car Bomb specials will be available from 11 .m. until close, along with Tullamore Dew and Carolans Irish Cream shot specials. And because RHUMBAR loves St. Patrick’s Day just as much as the next Irish pub, there will be no shortage of Irish party favors.

RHUMBAR is a highly-stylized cocktail and cigar lounge with a cool Caribbean palate, known for its premium rum and exotic, handmade cocktails. The plush outdoor patio is reminiscent of a tropical retreat offering a picturesque location for guests to mingle, sip cocktails, and smoke cigars. Located near the main entrance of The Mirage, RHUMBAR is owned and operated by Drive This! Entertainment. The lounge and patio are open from 11 a.m. until midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information please contact RHUMBAR at 702-792-7615

Stratosphere Hotel & Casino Continues To Support The American Lung Association Of Nevada With The Second Annual “Scale The Strat”

Stratosphere Hotel & Casino will once again support the efforts of the American Lung Association of Nevada as sponsor of the second annual “Scale the Strat” extreme stair climb on Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14. Last year’s event attracted 111 participants from across the United States and raised over $80,000 to help prevent lung disease and promote lung health in Nevada.

“The inaugural event last year was a huge success and raised much needed funds and awareness for the American Lung Association here in Nevada. The enthusiasm of the participants and also our own employees was incredible and I am confident that this year’s event will be even better,” said CEO Frank Riolo of American Casino & Entertainment Properties.

Known as a “vertical road race,” stair climbs have become a signature fundraising event for the American Lung Association. Held in prominent skyscrapers across the country, climbers race to the top floor individually or in teams, competing for fastest times and most fundraising dollars. The events are also popular with firefighters as climbing stairs is part of their standard and rigorous training. In fact, a firefighter from Seattle raced the 108 floors and 1,455 steps of the Stratosphere in seven minutes, 32 seconds to win bragging rights last year.

“Las Vegas is a famous destination and the Stratosphere is a famous Las Vegas icon,” said ALAN Executive Director Allison Newlon Moser. “We already have climbers registered from many states. Much as athletes from all over the world travel to marathons like Iron Man Triathlon in Hawaii or the Boston Marathon, the stair climb is becoming a popular destination for athletes, fitness buffs and corporate teams across the country.”

The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino is offering great room rates for “Scale the Strat” weekend from Friday, March 12 through Sunday, March 14. Call 1-800-99-TOWER, call code “Scale” to book a room or visit www.StratosphereHotel.com/packages.

The event is limited to the first 400 participants 21 years of age or older. The qualifying event will be held on Saturday, March 13, starting at 11 a.m. with the top 50 fastest climbers competing on Sunday, March 14 for the ultimate “Climb-Off.” A second qualifying event will be added on Saturday if necessary. Registration is $50, and climbers are also asked to make a minimum fundraising pledge of $250 to the American Lung Association. Proceeds go to promote lung health and combat lung disease. The ALA provides online support and personal fundraising coaching to help climbers achieve their fundraising goal. Event sponsor Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is providing online training and fitness tips. Detailed event and registration information can be found at www.scalethestrat.com.

The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino is located at 2000 Las Vegas Boulevard South. For more information, call 702-380-7777.

Las Vegas Entertainers Plan Concert Supporting Fellow Performer Bill Fayne

A plethora of Las Vegas entertainers will show their support for fellow performer Bill Fayne in his time of need when they take the Suncoast stage on Saturday, March 6, starting at 2 p.m. to raise funds for the singer/musical conductor.

Unbeknownst to most, Fayne has suffered through a horrific few months. Fortunately, he is slowly recovering from major surgery for cancer that (due to his diabetes) developed complications in recovery.

“The great news now is that he is on a course to full recovery,” said Clint Holmes, co-host of the afternoon with his wife, Kelly Clinton-Holmes. Holmes has been Fayne’s friend since their college days and Fayne has been Holmes’ long-time conductor and arranger.

“He’s even lost 50 pounds, the hard way to say the least,” continues Holmes. “The tough part is Bill hasn’t been able to work for months and won’t be able for sometime to come. To assist him during his obvious financial turmoil, the Suncoast Hotel & Casino and Boyd Gaming is picking up all expenses for the concert and the performers are all donating their precious time.”

Saluting Fayne will be Terry Fator, Frankie Scinta, Lance Burton, Louie Anderson, Robin Leach, Sandy Hackett & the Rat Pack Show, the ladies from “Menopause,” Elvis Presley tribute artist Paul Casey, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute artists “Oh What A Night” and Human Nature.

Also, Domenick Allen, Leigh Zimmerman, Cayleigh Capaldi, Rick Faugno, Lena Prima, 5th Avenue, Voci Vegas, the Las Vegas Tenors, Tony Sacca, Jerry Lopez, Jeff Neiman, Vincent Falcone and a chorus of Fayne’s friends.

Tickets are $45, $35 and $25 inclusive and are available at the Suncoast box office and other Boyd Gaming properties.
