Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Restaurants Celebrate National Hamburger Month Throughout May 2012

While National Hamburger Month may not be a Federally recognized holiday, it certainly is one that is gaining notoriety amongst burger lovers. It’s suggested that each American consumes, on average, 3 hamburgers every week. With songs, movies, books and more dedicated to the amazing sandwich, it’s no wonder the American food staple seems to grow in popularity year after year. In honor of National Hamburger Month, Jimmy Buffett’s restaurants nationwide will be celebrating all things burger throughout the month of May.

Margaritaville will offer their guests an array of beefy May specials from weekly specialty burgers created by Margaritaville Chefs across the country to Facebook “Meat-Ups” inviting their Facebook fans to come in for unique offerings and giveaways. In addition to celebrating the beloved sandwich, Margaritaville will show its appreciation and support for US Servicemen and Women throughout May. Starting May 1st, Margaritaville will donate $1 for each specialty burger sold to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. And on May 19th, in observance of “Armed Forces Day,” Margaritaville will donate $1 for EVERY burger and cheeseburger sold in its U.S. restaurants to the Wounded Warrior Project.

“This year, we thought let’s not just celebrate an American favorite, but also our favorite Americans, the servicemen and women who make it possible for us to enjoy this fun tradition.” says Margaritaville’s Tamara Baldanza.

THE SPECIALTY BURGERS:

Each Margaritaville restaurant submitted a new Specialty Burger recipe on Facebook where fans could go online and vote for the most delicious sounding burger. Out of the 14 chef submissions, 5 were chosen by Facebook fans with the voting ending on April 15th. Thousands of votes were cast and the five winning burgers will be featured across Margaritaville restaurants nationwide for one week during the month of May. The Specialty Burgers are:

From the Kitchen of Margaritaville Glendale the El Diablo Burger is a 7 oz burger topped with Tabasco Fried Onions, roasted Poblano Peppers, Monterey Jack Cheese, Sambal Olek Chili Paste, and Chipotle Ketchup with shredded Lettuce on a toasted Bun. It’s sinfully delicious.

The Palazzo Las Vegas And Southwest Airlines Join With The Armed Forces Foundation To Celebrate Armed Forces Day With “Salute Our Troops”

In celebration of Armed Forces Day, The Palazzo Las Vegas and Southwest Airlines have joined with the Armed Forces Foundation and Omaha Steaks® to salute our nation’s wounded veterans with a weekend of world-class entertainment, dining and relaxation in Las Vegas from May 16 to 19.

Soldiers applauding Armed Forces Foundation Armed Forces Day Las Vegas

“The sacrifices our service members and their families make for our country cannot be overstated,” said Patricia Driscoll, president and executive director of the Armed Forces Foundation.  “They rise to the occasion each and every day, so when corporations like The Palazzo Las Vegas, Southwest Airlines and Omaha Steaks unite to recognize that sacrifice by rolling out the red carpet to treat these service members to a VIP weekend in Las Vegas, that is truly special.”

Southwest Airlines will fly the wounded warriors from military hospitals in San Antonio, Texas to Las Vegas where they will be met with a police motorcade to escort them to The Palazzo. A cheering crowd of guests and Palazzo team members will greet the troops at grand welcome reception in the resort’s Waterfall & Atrium Gardens, where the resort is decked out in patriotic décor schemes in celebration of their arrival.

“We are excited to be part of this weekend that gives back to those that have given so much for our freedom and our country,” said Linda Rutherford, Southwest Airlines vice president of communication and strategic outreach. “We’re proud of our relationship with the Armed Forces Foundation, which supports our commitment to military service members and their families.”

During their stay, the troops will enjoy the best-of-the-best of what Las Vegas has to offer including The Palazzo’s all-suite accommodations; poker and blackjack tournaments; grand tasting buffets; dinner at Las Vegas’ premier sports book, Lagasse’s Stadium; spa and salon appointments at Canyon Ranch SpaClub®, tours of the Las Vegas Strip, tickets to Blue Man Group and Madame Tussauds at The Venetian and an evening at TAO Nightclub. In addition, Omaha Steaks will host an all-star cookout for the service members and their families and will present them with deluxe Omaha Steaks gourmet gift packages to enjoy at home with family and friends.

“This festive weekend is our small way of expressing gratitude to the men and women in the Armed Forces,” said Andy Abboud, senior vice president of government relations for Las Vegas Sands Corp. “We recognize that they’ve sacrificed immensely for the rest of us, and we want to thank them as best we can. Honoring our veterans is a fundamental value of our chairman Sheldon Adelson and our entire company.”

“As a family-owned company with a history spanning nearly 100 years, we are humbled and grateful for the efforts of our military troops and their families, who have generously sacrificed and bravely served to protect this great nation we proudly call ‘home’,” said Omaha Steaks President Bruce Simon. “We are honored to be involved in this year’s ‘Salute Our Troops’ event with The Palazzo Las Vegas and Southwest Airlines, to recognize these brave soldiers and their families with thanks and gratitude, and to support the outstanding efforts of the Armed Forces Foundation.”

The welcome reception will be held at 11 a.m. at The Palazzo Waterfall & Atrium Gardens and is open to the public. The troops will depart Las Vegas at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 19.
