Lionel Richie Returns To The Colosseum At Caesars Palace

World-renowned music icon Lionel Richie will bring his four decades of award winning hits to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31.

One of the most distinctive and instantly recognizable voices in music, Richie is excited to introduce fans to songs from his new album JUST GO which is a remarkable music marriage of his timeless style and a collection of contemporary material

Tickets go on-sale: Saturday, June 12 at 10 a.m.

Show date & time: Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.

As co-founder of The Commodores in 1967, Lionel Richie experienced his first taste of success after the group signed to Motown Records in 1971, becoming one of the most popular U.S. funk bands with “Machine Gun” and “Brick House” before creating a slew of future slow jam Richie-penned classics with “Easy,” “Three Times a Lady” and “Sail On.” Richie began working outside the Commodores in 1980, working with such names as Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, and other popular music acts of the 1980s. In 1982, the release of his self-titled solo quadruple platinum Motown debut set Lionel on a record-breaking pathway to global superstardom: 1983′s ten-million-selling “Can’t Slow Down” — which won a Grammy for Album of the Year – was followed by 1986′s massively-successful “Dancing on the Ceiling.” After a period of reflection and personal growth, Lionel returned in 1992 with BACK TO FRONT, followed by 1996′s LOUDER THAN WORDS, 1998′s TIME, 2001′s RENAISSANCE, 2003′s ENCORE, the aptly-titled THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION, a worldwide multi-million-selling retrospective, 2004′s JUST FOR YOU, and 2006′s COMING HOME. JUST GO, Richie’s most recent project, is an album with a decided musical twist and has Lionel working with today’s hottest hitmakers – Tricky Stewart & The Dream, Stargate, and Akon – to show that great talent is always timeless.

Roger Waters To Bring “The Wall North American Tour” To MGM Grand Garden Arena Friday, November 26

Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd, will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original release of The Wall with a monumental tour including a stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Friday, Nov. 26. The Thanksgiving weekend show, scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., will feature a full band and a newly mounted state-of-the-art production of his ‘masterpiece of alienation and transformation’ performed in its entirety.

The Wall previously has been performed live in its entirety by Waters only 31 times including Pink Floyd’s 1980-81 tour in support of the album. A spectacular Waters’ solo staging and performance of the rock opera in July 1990 at Potsdamer Platz, celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall, drew nearly 500,000 fans.

Originally released in November 1979, The Wall was America’s top-selling album in 1980, is one of the top-selling double albums of all time, and remains in the Top 5 of the best-selling albums in the United States. In 1982, The Wall was made into a metaphorical musical film directed by Alan Parker with the screenplay written by Waters. One of the most profoundly influential albums in the history of recorded music, The Wall continues to affect pop culture while resonating with generations of music fans worldwide.

In 1980, the New York Times declared, “The Wall show remains a milestone in rock history; it will be the touchstone against which all future rock spectacles must be measured.” For complete tour and ticket information, visit www.RogerWaters.com.

Billy Idol To Perform At The Pearl At The Palms

Rock legend Billy Idol to perform at The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.

MTV paved the way for many artists in the early ’80s and there is no arguing that the television format of heavily rotated music videos helped launch the career of rocker Billy Idol. Mixing his bad-boy good looks with an appealing blend of pop sounds and punk attitude, Idol quickly hit the top of the charts.

Idol was first on the scene as the front man of Generation X in 1976. The group released a self-titled debut in 1978 and in 1979 quickly followed up with Valley of the Dolls and eventually their final release before splitting up 1981′s Kiss Me Deadly.

Idol then pursued a career as a solo artist, and released the EP Don’t Stop in 1981 which was comprised of a cover of Tommy James’ ’60s hit “Mony Mony” and a pair of remixed Generation X tracks. Idol issued a self-titled full length in 1982 which included heavily rotated music videos for the tracks “White Wedding” and “Dancing With Myself” – the latter a remake of a Generation X composition. The debut set the stage for Idol’s commercial breakthrough, 1984′s Rebel Yell.

Rebel Yell became Idol’s best-selling album of his career, eventually going double platinum and spawning MTV/radio hits “Eyes Without a Face” and “Flesh for Fantasy.” 1987′s Whiplash Smile was another sizeable hit with songs “To Be a Lover” and “Sweet Sixteen.” An eight-track best-of set, Vital Idol, was issued later that same year and MTV’s most heavily played video that year was a live version of the previously recorded cover of “Mony Mony” which was part of Vital Idol.

Idol’s fourth studio release, 1990′s Charmed Life, included “Cradle of Love” and the album was Idol’s fourth consecutive release to reach platinum sales.

1993′s Cyberpunk was poorly received as Idol changed his image and his sound. A VH1: Behind the Music special and Storytellers performance followed and in 2005 Idol released his first studio album since Cyberpunk, Devil’s Playground.
