Commonwealth Set To Open In Downtown Las Vegas This Summer – Two-Story Bar to Serve Creative Cocktails, Spirits in Classic Surroundings

In a city known for its buzzing neon, bustling streets and brightly colored beverages served by-the-yard, something different is stirring up. Commonwealth, a new cocktail bar and social house, is set to open this summer in burgeoning Downtown Las Vegas at 525 East Fremont St.

“Commonwealth speaks to the very definition of the word: for the good of the community,” says partner and local business man, Michael Parks.  “We want to be part of the downtown story. A classic cocktail bar is timeless, and we feel the city block where Commonwealth will be located is building incredible momentum.”

Parks, along with fellow owners, Justin Weniger and Ryan Doherty of WENDOH Media Companies and hospitality veteran, Kenna Warner, plan to open a venue that will be inviting, classic and warm, with personality to boot.

Commonwealth will look as though it was ripped right from a cobblestone street in a snowy city, yet will fit in gloriously with  the diverse surroundings of its new Fremont Street and Sixth Avenue home. The pub will be modeled after a vintage, East Coast-style pub, as a nod to Doherty’s Massachusetts upbringing. The up-and-coming, two-story venue will feature original and classic cocktails, indoor and patio space, nightly entertainment and an atmosphere that will be incomparable to anything Vegas has seen.

Guests who set foot into the 6,000-square-foot space will be taken aback by the feeling that somehow, Commonwealth must have been settled on the corner for decades. Warm, incandescent light will wash over the room, which will be adorned in dark, grainy wood and exposed brick.

Booths will be tucked away in alcoves, for intimate conversations and an assortment of picture frames will cover the walls. Situated in the center of the bar will be Commonwealth’s signature character, a stuffed albino peacock, standing proud to greet each and every guest.

In the back of the venue, discriminating libation lovers and cocktail aficionados will be pleased to spend their time in the 700-square-foot speakeasy-style bar. This portion of the venue will feature a detailed and artfully crafted mixology-based menu, based around classic tastes of pre-Prohibition era spirits, with a focus on fresh ingredients.

Guests will be able to enjoy the warm desert air on the 2,000-square-foot rooftop, surrounded with strings of white lights. A DJ booth will reside on the rooftop garden, with guest spin masters who will keep revelers entertained all night long.

Commonwealth will promise to keep true to its namesake definition. While designed and modeled after a yesteryear pub, the locally-owned establishment will be a breath of fresh air to locals and visitors alike, who have yearned for a classic, yet eclectic venue to find solace in. Commonwealth, the new standard of cocktail menus, will be sure to settle in perfectly to the defined and juxtaposed landscape of downtown Sin City.

Whiskey Licker Bar Now Open At Binion’s Gambling Hall

Binion’s Gambling Hall is pleased to announce the opening of Whiskey Licker Bar, a brand new outdoor bar located at the corner of the property next to the concert stage that sits at First and Fremont Streets.  Whiskey Licker is the first outdoor bar on Fremont Street with a patio and was designed so guests could enjoy the sights and sounds of the Fremont Street Experience from a prime viewing location.

The Whiskey Licker patio is surrounded by wrought iron railing with a convenient cocktail ledge that serves as a drink rest.  The patio has 24 seats including custom designed swivel chairs as well as high-top tables.  The full service bar offers a variety of featured drinks including the signature, “Whiskey Licker,” that is mixed with one ounce Jack Daniel’s Honey, one ounce Sprite and two ounces of sour mix.  Patrons can see a list of all of the featured cocktails on one of two state-of-the-art LED menu screens positioned at either end of the bar.

For guests who take full advantage of the 24 hour nature of Las Vegas, Whiskey Licker will open early and serve a full complement of coffee favorites from espresso and frappucino to traditional brews and herbal tea.  For those wanting a little kick in their coffee, a variety of “Lickers” may be added. The coffee “Lickers” include old standards like Kahlua and Bailey’s as well as flavored vodkas, tequila and whiskey.  The hours of operation will vary seasonally.  Currently, Whiskey Licker is open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The theme and the décor of Whiskey Licker are classic Binion’s, with the same dark wood and stained glass features that are found in the Top of Binion’s Steakhouse and Benny’s Bullpen Sports Bar & Cigar Lounge.  The cowgirl silhouette that adorns the logo pays homage to Binion’s Western roots as well as the costumed dealers who are found at the property today. An employee from Binion’s named the new bar after a month long contest open to all Binion’s employees and during which hundreds of names were submitted. Whiskey Licker guests must be at least 21 years of age.
