O’Rhumbar Goes Irish For St. Patrick’s Day

Rhumbar Patio
RHUMBAR, the stylish cocktail lounge at The Mirage, will go all Irish this St. Patrick’s Day – with an Irish DJ, Irish shots, Irish beer and of course, Irish Car Bombs; the only thing missing is the kilt.

The fun kicks off on Wednesday, March 17, with sexy emcee, Elissa and her lucky Leprechaun co-host, who will have just about everyone doing the Irish jig. A pair of Irish DJs will be spinning Irish bar favorites and all the U2 one could ever want outside on the gorgeous, 3,000-square-foot patio, while the beautiful RHUMBAR cocktail waitresses will keep the drinks-a-flowin’. $5 green Coors Light drafts, Guinness, George Killian’s Irish Red and Irish Car Bomb specials will be available from 11 .m. until close, along with Tullamore Dew and Carolans Irish Cream shot specials. And because RHUMBAR loves St. Patrick’s Day just as much as the next Irish pub, there will be no shortage of Irish party favors.

RHUMBAR is a highly-stylized cocktail and cigar lounge with a cool Caribbean palate, known for its premium rum and exotic, handmade cocktails. The plush outdoor patio is reminiscent of a tropical retreat offering a picturesque location for guests to mingle, sip cocktails, and smoke cigars. Located near the main entrance of The Mirage, RHUMBAR is owned and operated by Drive This! Entertainment. The lounge and patio are open from 11 a.m. until midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information please contact RHUMBAR at 702-792-7615

Back Alley Bar At Stratosphere Hotel & Casino New Home For Country-Rock Music On The Strip

Wolf CreekWith bars catering to country-rock music fans in short supply, the Back Alley Bar at Stratosphere Hotel & Casino steps in as the best place on the Strip to party, drink and do the occasional Texas two-step. Every Thursday through Monday at 10 p.m. one of Las Vegas’ most popular country-rock bands, WolfCreek, will rock the house.

“Bars playing classic rock, pop and Top 40 music are commonplace on the Strip so we are creating a place where country-rock fans can really enjoy themselves,” said Todd Ford, Director of Marketing. “The Back Alley Bar is a fitting venue with the perfect atmosphere, providing a genuine rocking roadhouse feel. We added buckets of peanuts, beer specials, lots of room for dancing and a great new country-rock house band.”

With their country and southern rock style, WolfCreek will have guests jumping out of their seats to hit the dance floor. The band has opened for many of country music’s top stars including Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley and The Dixie Chicks. While playing at local venues such as Station Casinos, WolfCreek has developed a strong following and reputation as one of the hottest country-rock bands in Las Vegas.

Filling the mid-week gap is The Jeremy Cornwell Project playing on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. Covering popular bands such as Counting Crows, Billy Idol, Dave Matthews Band and Oasis, the Jeremy Cornwell Project is “coffee house with an edge.” Cornwell previously played at House of Blues and Hard Rock before settling in mid-week at Back Alley Bar. The two-man band achieves a big, eclectic sound by sampling and layering tracks.

The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino is located at 2000 Las Vegas Boulevard South. For more information, call 702-380-7777.

Eva Longoria Parker Celebrates “Eva Longoria Parker Day” At Eve Nightclub In Las Vegas

Eva Longoria Parker Eve NightclubEva Longoria Parker celebrated “Eva Longoria Parker Day” with family and friends, and was presented with a prestigious award to acknowledge her outstanding entrepreneurial success at the Latin Chamber of Commerce 35th Installation Celebration at Eve, her CityCenter nightclub in Las Vegas. Chairman of the Clark County Commission Rory Reid and Las Vegas Councilman Ricky Barlow each presented her with a proclamation on the red carpet to declare the day in honor of Longoria Parker, who was recognized as the sole woman restaurant and nightclub owner on the Las Vegas Strip.

Longoria Parker looked ravishing in a grey leather Bagdley Mischka dress and black YSL pumps as she walked the red carpet outside of Eve nightclub with her very proud parents, Ella and Enrique Longoria. Also in attendance was Nevada’s First Lady Dawn Gibbons, Chairman of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce David Lizárraga, Nevada Senator Steven Horsford, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, Assemblyman William Horne, the Latin Chamber of Commerce’s chairman Luis Valera and president and CEO Otto Merida, and ARIA at CityCenter President and COO Bill McBeath.

At the event Longoria Parker was presented the prestigious “Premio de Oro – Distinguished Business Leadership” award, to honor her commitment to expand opportunities for women- and minority-owned businesses. She commented that it was an honor to receive the award and she was proud to make a difference in both the Las Vegas and Latin community, attributing much of her success to the women role models in her life – her mother, grandmother, aunts and three older sisters.

Following the ceremony, Longoria Parker dined with her parents at her celebrated steakhouse Beso. She sipped her favorite cocktail – Beso’s signature pear and elderflower white sangria – and enjoyed her amazing tortilla soup, guacamole (a recipe that was passed down from her grandmother), and the whole fish branzino. Longoria Parker headed back upstairs to Eve nightclub where she topped off the night with some dancing, a surprise visit from Jeff Beacher’s Oompa Loompas, and very special cake and champagne toast in celebration of “Eva Longoria Parker Day.”

A New Year, A New Look, A New Experience At Minus 5 – Permanent Ice Lounge Renovates With New Ice Bar And Sculptures

The year 2010 marks a new decade and a new look to the Minus 5 Ice Lounge, the first permanent ice bar in the United States. The renovations include a complete transformation of the entire ice lounge including new walls, lighting effects, statuary and floor plan to the 2,000 sq. ft. arctic experience.

To celebrate the newly remodeled ice lounge, Minus 5 is offering a free Minus 5 hat upon entry before 6 p.m. to all of its V Ice P members until February 15. To become a V Ice P, patrons can sign up at www.minus5experience.com to receive “cool” prizes and Minus 5 updates for free.

The renovations to the one-year old venue included a complete makeover of the space with 19 tons of fresh, Canadian ice. While keeping its signature statue of “Elvis on Ice,” all of the other statuary has been replaced, and the ice lounge now features fresh ice sculptures including an “ice showgirl.” In addition, Minus 5 upgraded its lighting effects with a $40,000 lighting scheme that now includes laser lighting, giving the inside a fun new vibe with a state-of-the-art light show.

“We replace our sculptures every two to three weeks, redesigning the year-old interior sculptures has really created a new atmosphere,” said Craig Ling, founder of the Minus 5 Experience. “While it is still the same ‘cool’ experience and the concept has not changed, returning guests will have a brand new experience when they enter our remodeled ice wonderland.”

The Las Vegas location is the first of many U.S. based Minus 5 ice lounges. General public admission into the ice lounge is $25 and includes a cocktail.
