Live Entertainment, Beverage Specials and Autograph Signings Highlight 10-day Activities

MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, Excalibur and Circus Circus have partnered with Las Vegas Events and the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) for the 2011 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) (click link to book) Thursday, Dec. 1 – Saturday, Dec. 10.  The resorts will feature a variety of live entertainment, live nightly broadcasts as well as a number of autograph sessions prior to and following all 10 of the WNFR performances.

MGM GRAND

For the fourth consecutive year MGM Grand is ”Home of the Champions” as the resort hosts more than 25 cowboys throughout the 10 days of competition.  The resort will offer guests the opportunity to watch the telecast live each night inside the 740-seat Hollywood Theatre.  All WNFR fans in attendance will enjoy nightly contestant appearances, drink specials, door prizes and giveaways.

For the first time, MGM Grand is unveiling the greatest shopping experience in the city inside its Marquee Ballroom.  The 90,000-square-foot ballroom will feature more than 60 of the most popular rodeo brands including Wrangler, Cinch, Roper, Ariat, Justin, Resistol, Stetson, Tony Lama, Circle Y Saddles, Classic and Cactus, among others.  Also on-site will be tack equipment, rope making displays, fashion shows and an opportunity for one lucky fan to win a single horse trailer courtesy of Twister Trailer and NRS.

MANDALAY BAY
Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino has partnered with Group W Productions, the producers of the annual Cowboy Marketplace, and the United States Team Roping Championship, to create ”Cowboyville” for its Wrangler National Finals Rodeo guests.  Mandalay Bay will be one of the official host hotels and will be home to the Bullfighters and the U.S. Team Ropers.

The Mandalay Bay Convention Center East Parking Lot will anchor the expansive Cowboy Marketplace presented by Roper.  Cowboy Marketplace, a maximum Western shopping experience featuring hundreds of Western vendors, gives fans the opportunity to purchase anything from home goods to clothing.  Admission is complimentary.

A nightly live viewing party of the WNFR, hosted by trick roper Anthony Lucia, will be held inside the House of Blues Music Hall.  Lucia will offer commentary throughout the evening’s performance while promoting drink specials provided by Bud Light and Jack Daniel’s.

THE MIRAGE

The 6th Annual ”Rodeo Vegas” event inside The Mirage Race & Sports Book will include nightly live broadcasts of all of the Wrangler NFR action as well as prize drawings and giveaways from Bud Light, Crown Royal and Wrangler, among others, throughout the broadcasts.  As the Official Wrangler NFR After-Party of the PRCA, ”Rodeo Vegas” presents nightly live entertainment over the course of the 10-day WNFR competition.  Admission is complimentary through December 9.

MONTE CARLO

Monte Carlo will participate in the 2011 Wrangler NFR and offer fans the opportunity to view the nightly live broadcasts inside The Pub as well as the Race & Sports Book.  The resort, home to the Bareback Riders, will host an autograph session Thursday, Dec. 8 from noon – 2 p.m. featuring the 15 competitors.

The Pub at Monte Carlo will entertain fans with line-dancing lessons throughout the 10 days of WNFR performances.  Lessons will take place from 5:45-6:45 p.m., nightly with the exception of Sunday, Dec. 4 which will be held from 3-4 p.m.  The Pub will offer guests a happy hour from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday featuring $1 wings and sliders, 2-for-1 select domestic drafts and well drinks, as well as a Bud Light and a shot of Jack Daniel’s for $5.  An all-you-can-eat BBQ menu will be offered for only $15.95.

Spring will bring a new era in Las Vegas attractions and family fun with the 25-acre, $18 million Splash Canyon Waterpark.  The public/private partnership was announced today by the private investment team and Clark County and The Howard Hughes Corporation representatives.

The Clark County Commission voted unanimously to approve the project in June, and construction is underway. Splash Canyon Waterpark (www.splashlv.com) is expected to open Memorial Day weekend and will employ more than 500 seasonal employees. Located at 7055 S. Fort Apache Road, it is close to I-215 and easily accessible throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Phase I includes a large, surfable Wave Pool; Three-Slide Complex with Multi-Rider Tube Slides; Big Slide Complex with Speed Slides and a six-lane, head-first Mat Racer; 1,000-foot-long Lazy River; Children’s Water Playground with toddler features; four-story RainFortress playground; private cabanas; food outlets; group picnic area accommodating up to 2,000 people with catering facilities and staff-led activities; and other amenities.

Phase II design and engineering is underway expanding Splash Canyon to 40 acres.

”As third generation Las Vegas residents, my brother and business partner Scott and I have long recognized a hunger for wholesome family entertainment in our community,” said Roger Bulloch, principal with SPB Partners, developer of Splash Canyon. ”After two years of work, millions of dollars in design, engineering and legal costs, and a win-win partnership with Clark County and The Howard Hughes Corporation, we’re delighted to bring the community a world-class family waterpark by Memorial Day weekend.”

Believing in strong partnerships, the Bullochs solidified the Splash Canyon team with companies that are the best in their fields. For example, Harvest Family Entertainment LLC, builders and operators of more waterparks than any other group in the world, will manage Splash Canyon.  For location, SPB partnered with The Howard Hughes Corporation, which eventually will develop an adjacent community park and future aquatics center as part of the site’s overall master plan.

Hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily with extended hours for special events, concerts and private parties. Splash Canyon will be open through Labor Day weekend.

Fresh off his appearance in the network television series, ”CSI: Las Vegas,” former mayor and Las Vegas icon, Oscar Goodman, is set to film the pilot for a new, Las Vegas-based courtroom show, ”Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman.” Filming for ”Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman” will take place inside the legendary Elvis Presley Showroom at the Las Vegas Hilton, beginning Friday, Nov. 18.

With his iconic Las Vegas showgirls in tow and a glass of gin in hand, ”Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman” will feature real court cases and a gallery filled with celebrities and Las Vegas notables.

”I couldn’t be more excited to make my way back to the courtroom,” said former Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman. ”There’s no city in the world like Las Vegas and there won’t be a show quite like ‘Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman.”’

”Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman” is produced by Wayne Jeffries, manager of History’s ”Pawn Stars,” which is cable television’s number one show, and five-time Emmy Award-winning Producer/Director, Jerry Kupcinet, who is often credited for creating the template for courtroom shows on television. Kupcinet’s credits include ”Judge Judy,” ”Judge Joe Brown” and ”Cristina’s Court,” which won the first Emmy Award in the ”Court Show” category.

Previously known as the ”Happiest Mayor in the World,” Oscar Goodman was admitted to the Nevada Bar Association in 1965. Following a successful law career, during which he represented several defendants accused of being some of the leading organized crime members in America, Goodman served three terms as Las Vegas Mayor, from 1999 through 2011. Goodman’s film and television credits include Martin Scorsese’s 1995 film, ”Casino,” and the CBS television series, ”CSI: Las Vegas.”

In support of the 36th Great American Smokeout, BODIES…The Exhibition hopes to educate and encourage the community to stop smoking by displaying and letting guests hold a real smoker’s lung as well as offering a special discount to anyone who pledges to quit. This year, The Exhibition is again partnering with Legacy, the foundation responsible for the EX campaign, to empower and encourage the more-than 46 million smokers throughout the United States to take the first steps to quit and to draw attention to the effects of smoking on the human body.

”Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, and cigarette smoking causes most cases of lung cancer. The bullet-riddled car driven by the infamous crime duo, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, returns to Primm Valley Casino Resorts (click link to book). After a short ride at Terrible’s Gold Ranch Casino in Reno, the V8 Ford as well as other memorabilia is now on display at Whiskey Pete’s Resort and Casino.

In 1934, Bonnie and Clyde led police on a deadly pursuit in the Ford vehicle, following a two year crime spree. The partners in crime robbed dozens of banks and killed at least nine people on their adventures across rural America, and the couple was eventually ambushed and killed on May 23, 1934, when Louisiana law officers pierced the car with more than 100 bullets.

The display not only includes the battered Ford car but contains Clyde’s shredded shirt that he wore the morning of his death as well as letters of authenticity and small items from the duo’s travels. A streaming video will tell the criminals’ tale including testimonies from witnesses that saw the capture of the notable two.

The historic Death Car is on display at Whiskey Pete’s and open to the public for viewing.

On Oct. 14th at 5 O’clock in the evening Margaritaville broke the World Record for the largest margarita ever made as verified by Guinness World Records. The event was part of the Grand Opening festivities for the new Margaritaville Casino at Flamingo in Las Vegas.

Halfway through the ceremony celebrating the new World Record, Jimmy Buffett surprised fans by coming out and raising a glass of Lucky Rita with the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team along with Flamingo’s Rick Mazer and Margaritaville’s Tamara Baldanza in front of more than 1,000 Parrotheads and onlookers. Lucky Rita is now on sale to the public allowing guests a taste of history and an opportunity to contribute to a great cause.  For every gallon of Lucky Rita sold, Margaritaville will donate $5 to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. More than a margarita, Lucky Rita is a concoction with a cause.

After six months of planning, the mixing of the colossal 8,500 gallon beverage, appropriately named ”Lucky Rita”, began its first pour on Oct. 11, 2011. Lucky Rita took an estimated 300 work hours to mix the concoction.

Lucky Rita kicks off Margaritaville Week with margaritas offered to the public up until October 23, 2011.

Continuing Margaritaville Week are the 7th Annual Street Parties that coincide with Jimmy Buffett’s Vegas concerts on the 15th and 22nd.  Beginning at 11 a.m. each Saturday, the legendary, all-day, outdoor, free admission street parties will offer guests a taste of Lucky Rita along with live entertainment, interactive games, great food and drinks along with exciting giveaways including Margaritaville sunglasses, flip flops, frozen concoction makers and Jimmy Buffett concert tickets.
