American Idol alum, Katharine McPhee, made a special musical appearance at AZURE Luxury Pool on Saturday, June 26th for ‘Stereo Love Live’. The sultry singer and songwriter graced the poolside stage and hosted the day time party to celebrate the launch of Belvedere Pink Grapefruit Vodka. Kat arrived with her husband to The Palazzo on Friday where they checked in at the VIP Lounge to their luxurious Siena suite. Kat was wearing a loose fitting cream crop top with cut-off jean shorts, flip flops and sporting her signature short, now brunette, hair do.

When Kat walked into the suite she gasped at how spacious it was and said, “What are we going to do with all this space.” Friday night Kat saw Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular and was overheard saying how much she loved the show. Later that evening Kat enjoyed dinner at FIRST Food and Bar at The Palazzo. Kat wore a loose fitting tunic top with leggings. She sipped a glass of wine and ate crème brulee for dessert. She loved the view and the food. Before leaving the restaurant, Kat and her husband took several pictures in the FIRST photo booth. When asked about FIRST, Kat mentioned “The Chef even came out to say Hi.”

Saturday morning, Kat worked out at Canyon Ranch SpaClub to prepare for her poolside performance at AZURE Luxury Pool and later she and her husband relaxed with massages.

Kat glowed on the carpet wearing a Joie jumpsuit. Kat’s tips for staying fit for the beach or pool, she suggested “stay away from bread and eat lean.”

Kat enjoyed Wolfgang Puck’s famous pizza and Chicken Caesar Salad in her cabana before taking the stage.

Kat performed a musical set for her fans at AZURE pool. Feeling the heat, she took off her stiletto heels and gold necklace to jump off the stage and get into the water where she sang to her fans.

Kat announced, “I don’t know about you, but I’m having fun here celebrating Belevedere Pink Grapefruit Vodka and of course hanging here at The Palazzo.”

Back on stage, Kat cooled off by spritzing herself with an Evian water misting and sang a song she wrote “Surrender” while fans clapped and cheered. Soaking up the rays, Kat performed her rendition of Kings of Leon’s hit “Use Somebody” while the crowd sang along.

About to exit the stage, the pool guests started to scream for one more song. Kat asked for requests and her fans yelled “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”

Before melting in the Vegas heat, Kat sang it and pleased her fans. After the performance, Kat took a dip in the pool to cool off.

Following Kat’s poolside performance, she and her husband headed to dinner at her favorite spot in Las Vegas, TAO Asian Bistro at The Venetian. Kat mentioned, “It’s a tradition to go to TAO. I always get asked if I want to go anywhere else and I say no, we are going to TAO – it’s my favorite place. I love the Chilean Sea Bass and the Lobster Won Tons.”

Planet Hollywood And PH Towers: Latest Resorts To Participate In Harrah’s Las Vegas Hotel Group “No Resort Fees” Program

Effective today, Planet Hollywood Resort and PH Towers eliminate resort fees. The two resorts will join the other Harrah’s Entertainment Las Vegas properties, including Paris Las Vegas, Bally’s, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Caesars Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Imperial Palace and Harrah’s, in not imposing mandatory resort fees attached to a room reservation.

The elimination of resort fees allows guests to allocate their budget toward entertainment, dining, shopping or room upgrades rather than amenities that they may not use or desire. Other Strip resorts outside of the Harrah’s Entertainment Las Vegas portfolio have implemented such fees. These resorts offer competitive promotional rates; however, in many instances, an additional resort fee is assessed when booking the reservation online. In some cases, the fee may be in excess of 40 percent of the base room rate.

The Grove In Los Angeles Celebrates ‘The Lion King Day’ With Special Free Cast Performance By The Las Vegas Company

Cast members from Disney’s THE LION KING (at Mandalay Bay) will be performing in Los Angeles at The Grove outdoor shopping and entertainment district during a free event on Friday, July 9 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Performers will include Kissy Simmons, who joined the Las Vegas company after appearing as “Nala” on Broadway; Buyi Zama, a native of South Africa, who has performed as “Rafiki” in seven productions of THE LION KING around the world; and Jelani Remy as “Simba,” previously seen in the theatrical touring production of High School Musical. Join the cast as they celebrate “THE LION KING Day” at The Grove, performing iconic songs from the Broadway phenomenon such as “Circle of Life,” “Shadowland,” “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Endless Night” alongside the FAME Church Choir, Los Angeles.

As part of the celebration, guests can also join in the festivities by creating their own LION KING themed mask made from recycled products with Ann Closs-Farley Designs from 3-7 PM.

For Las Vegas, Disney hand-selected an acclaimed, international cast of performers from productions of THE LION KING across the globe including Broadway, Taipei, South Africa, London, Los Angeles, Australia, Toronto, Shanghai, Paris and Holland.

The Las Vegas production of THE LION KING is virtually identical to the other companies seen around the globe and is staged with all of the same spectacular music, sets, and costumes that have made it a worldwide phenomenon. The show is performed at Mandalay Bay Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with weekend shows at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. For additional information, visit: www.LionKingLasVegas.com

ABOUT THE LION KING

THE LION KING began as a 1994 animated feature-length film developed and produced by the Walt Disney Company. On stage, Director Julie Taymor’s creative vision blends elements of African art and Broadway artisanship to depict anthropomorphic animal characters. The story, a coming of age parable set among animals indigenous to the African savanna, tells the tale of Simba, the lion cub who rises to be the King of the jungle.

THE LION KING continues to reign as one of the most popular shows on Broadway and around the world. THE LION KING can also be seen on stage across North America and in Las Vegas, London, Hamburg, Paris and Tokyo. Now in its 13th year, THE LION KING is the eighth longest-running musical in Broadway history and one of only five musical productions in theatre history to play for ten years or more on both Broadway and the West End.

THE LION KING has been seen by more than 50 million people in 13 different countries and translated into five different languages (Japanese, German, Korean, French, Dutch).

THE LION KING made history in September 2009 when two of its signature costumes were inducted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

The global phenomenon is the winner of more than 70 major awards worldwide, including the 1998 Tony Award® and NY Drama Critics Award for Best Musical, the 1999 Grammy® for Best Musical Show Album, and the 1999 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Choreography and Best Costume Design.

Julie Taymor was the first woman in theatrical history to win the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical. She is also the winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Costume Design.

Taymor, along with designer Michael Curry, has created hundreds of masks and puppets for THE LION KING. Scenic design is by Richard Hudson; costume design is by Julie Taymor; lighting design is by Donald Holder. Choreography is by Garth Fagan. The book has been adapted by Roger Allers, who co-directed the animated feature and Irene Mecchi, who co-wrote the film’s screenplay.

The Broadway score features Elton John and Tim Rice’s music from The Lion King animated film along with three new songs by John and Rice; additional musical material by South African Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor and Hans Zimmer; and music from “Rhythm of the Pride Lands,” an album inspired by the original music in the film, written by Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Hans Zimmer. The resulting sound of THE LION KING is a fusion of Western popular music and the distinctive sounds and rhythms of Africa, ranging from the Academy® Award-winning song “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” to the haunting ballad “Shadowlands.”

Qua Baths & Spa At Caesars Palace Expands Destination Spa Offerings With Addition Of Yoga And Water Qi Gong Classes

Award-winning Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace is proud to bring spirituality, meditation and relaxation to the famed Las Vegas Strip with the addition of both yoga and water Qi Gong classes. Since opening in 2006, Qua Baths & Spa has focused on total wellness – melding principles of Western world relaxation and Eastern world philosophies of healing. Yoga and water Qi Gong are an expansion of that vision.

“We find that our clientele is coming to Las Vegas for a total wellness experience, to leave a more relaxed and balanced person than when they came,” said Chrystal King, director of Qua Baths & Spa. “We have many guests who come for a single service, however the trend at Qua is leaning toward a full day of relaxation –a massage, chakra balancing, hypnotherapy and then close the day with yoga.”

Led by yoga master Swami Ramananda, Qua’s yoga practices are held weekly in the newly opened “Tranquility” yoga center in Caesars Palace. With more than 40 years experience teaching yoga, Ramananda’s practices strongly focus on rhythmic breathing and guided meditation.

Ramananda also leads Qua’s water Qi Gong classes, which are hosted on a weekly basis in the serene, open-air Bacchus pool. The pool deck overlooks the resort’s newly expanded Garden of the Gods swimming oasis, creating a relaxing escape from daily stresses. Qi Gong is a meditative practice that uses slow graceful movements and controlled breathing techniques to promote circulation and enhance overall wellness.

Qua Baths & Spas hosts yoga each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Tranquility yoga center, located in the Color Boutique, along Appian Way. Water Qi Gong is hosted each Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Bacchus pool in the Garden of the Gods pool oasis. Participation in Caesars Palace yoga and water Qi Gong classes is priced at $15 per person for each class; each class may be paired with fitness facility access for $35. Guests may experience a class and have access to the fitness room, plus the spa’s Roman Baths, therapy pools, steam sauna and Arctic Ice Room for $55.

Clint Holmes Returns To The Suncoast Las Vegas Showroom July 10-11

Singing sensation Clint Holmes brings his powerful voice and magnetic stage presence back to the Suncoast Showroom July 10 and 11.

Holmes’ fans know him as more than just a singer. He’s famous for making every performance an original and captivating audiences with his charisma and signature style. Among his many recordings is the Top 10 smash hit “Playground In My Mind (My Name Is Michael).” His album Edges produced many other standout songs, including “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” the romantic “Shouldn’t It Be Easy By Now,” the playful “Gotta Get Up” and the thought-provoking “Let My Son See Africa.”

With a long history of entertaining audiences in Las Vegas, Clint is known for his six-year run in Clint Holmes at Harrah’s. Named Las Vegas’ “Best Singer” for four times and “Entertainer of the Year” three times by readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Holmes’ fame stretches far beyond Southern Nevada. He was also Atlantic City’s “Entertainer of the Year” three times, and starred in Clint Holmes’ Sophisticated Rhythms, a dynamic stage show that traveled through music from the 1940s to the present.

His 1996 critically acclaimed musical Comfortable Shoes, which opened in New Jersey, was a poignant and uplifting journey into Holmes’ interracial family’s struggle to find its identity. In 2002, an updated version of the musical opened at The Royal George Theatre in Chicago. Among the show’s rave reviews, the Chicago Tribune called it “a night of fully realized theatrical entertainment.” Holmes also continues to partner with long-time friends Susan Anton, Domenick Allen and Martin Nievera for a showcase of solo performances, duets and group numbers as the wildly popular Vocal Soup.

In a career that began with an invitation from Joan Rivers to be her sidekick and announcer on The Late Show, Clint Holmes has proven himself as a well-respected performer, even earning the honor of being the featured performer at the Democratic National Convention on the evening of Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential nomination. Also familiar to fans’ ears, Holmes was the voice of Lowenbrau Beer for four years.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $29.95, plus tax and convenience fees and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075
