‘The Ultimate Tribiute To Sir Elton John & Billy Joel’ Opens At Las Vegas Rocks Café’s Embassy Theatre

Billy Joel Elton John Tribute“The Ultimate Tribute to Sir Elton John & Billy Joel” starring veteran tribute artists Jeffrey Allen and Michael John will open for a limited engagement at the Las Vegas Rocks Café’s Embassy Theatre on Thursday, March 25, 2010. They will headline on Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m.

Jeffrey Allen and Michael John have joined forces to create a highly successful show that has audiences raving. Just like the original tour, each artist performs a solo set with a killer five-to-six piece rock ‘n’ roll band, and then culminate the show with a face-to-face set featuring both of them playing together on two pianos and trading off lyrics on each song they perform.

This true rock ‘n’ roll show provides a night of hit songs, energetic performances and outrageous costumes. In addition, the dynamic duo sprinkles the show with funny performance bits, sing-along parts, and spontaneous humor. Both men come to the stage with viable show business credits.

Allen, visually and through his performance, captures Elton John in the 70s and current day. He is known for his captivating entertainment prowess and unbelievable recreation of Elton’s outrageous costumes.

Allen was born in Indiana and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. His professional career began in 1988 as a solo act, playing keyboards and singing at upscale establishments in Ft. Lauderdale. That high profile exposure led to Allen opening for John Sebastian, an ex-member of “Loving Spoonful,” at the famed “Musicians.” He went on to record with Dionne Warwick and the Birds for the AIDS benefit album “Legacy.” Shortly afterwards, Allen was invited to perform his original song “Don’t Mind Feelin’ Good” and “The Christmas Song” on several Miami television shows, which have seen regular airplay since 1990. Allen ‘s career has taken him all over the world performing in England, Germany, Norway and most of the Caribbean and throughout the states including the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga. Eventually landing in Las Vegas, he performed as Elton John in “Legends in Concert.”

Michael John, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., found out early that he had the voice of Billy Joel. He worked hard at perfecting his Billy Joel show and landed a gig playing in the world famous “Legends In Concert” portraying the famous piano man. After “Legends,” John appeared on national television twice on the FOX network’s “Performing As…” talent show as Billy Joel receiving great reviews.

John has worked for many entertainment companies and performed at conventions, corporate events, birthday celebrations, holiday events, and clubs around the country. He has a long song list that he mastered, from the familiar, “Only the Good Die Young” and “Piano Man,” to the classic “Angry Young Man” and “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant.” In addition to being a celebrity look-alike, he can play the piano, sing, and entertain with the same intensity and passion.

Tickets for “The “The Ultimate Tribute to Sir Elton John & Billy Joel” starring Jeffrey Allen and Michael John are $19.95 plus tax for general admission, $29.95 plus tax for premium seating, and only $49.95 plus tax and gratuity for a three-course salmon or chicken dinner and premium seating. For show tickets and reservations, call the Las Vegas Rocks Café Box Office at 227-5872 (LVRC).

Carole King And James Taylor ‘Troubadour Reunion’ Tour Comes To Las Vegas

Iconic recording artists Carole King and James Taylor announced additional North American dates for the highly anticipated “Troubadour Reunion” tour which features a stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, July 17. This once-in-a-lifetime, intimate, in-the-round performance will bring two of the most beloved singer/songwriters together on tour for the first time in four decades. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

The idea for the tour was conceived after a series of six performances by King and Taylor at the Troubadour in Los Angeles in 2007 to celebrate the famed venue’s 50th anniversary. The shows sold out immediately and garnered rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Joining King and Taylor on this tour will be their original bandmates including guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar, famous in their own right as “The Section.” Also accompanying “The Section” will be Rudy Guess, Robbie Kondor, Arnold McCuller, Kate Markowitz and Andrea Zonn.

In 1971, King gave us the landmark album Tapestry. The album received a Diamond Award from the RIAA for sales of more than 10 million units in the United States along with more than 25 million units sold worldwide. King was the first woman to win four GRAMMY® Awards in one year (1972 for Best Album, Best Song, Best Record and Best Vocal Performance), a feat unsurpassed for more than 25 years. In 1987, King was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and later honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1988. She also was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and honored by The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2004 with the GRAMMY® Trustees’ Award. To date, more than 400 King compositions have been recorded by more than 1,000 artists, resulting in more than 100 hit singles. She is arguably the most successful and revered female songwriter in pop music history, having released 25 solo albums.

Over the course of his career, Taylor has sold more than 40 million albums and won more than 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, as well as five GRAMMYs®. Taylor’s first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA’s elite Diamond Award, handed out to musicians who sell more than 10 million units in the United States. In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences named Taylor its MUSICARES Person of the Year in February 2006. Taylor’s One Man Band (2007) album was nominated for an Emmy and his most recent album, Covers, was nominated for two GRAMMY® Awards in 2008. He most recently released Other Covers in April 2009.

Fans also will have the opportunity to purchase ‘VIP Stage Seats’ which will be arranged in tables of two surrounding the stage while presenting a unique concert experience. The idea for the VIP seating grew from King and Taylor’s desire to create an extraordinary ‘venue within a venue,’ or a club-like setting replicating the intimacy of the duo’s legendary Troubadour performances amidst the excitement of an arena performance. Fans can purchase these VIP seats and charity packages by visiting www.ticketsforcharity.com exclusively, or by calling Tickets-for-Charity at (866) 567-4576.

Proceeds from the sale of these tickets will benefit both national and local charities from each of the cities visited on the tour as well as the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Alliance for the Wild Rockies. These are two of the environmental organizations that King and Taylor have championed for years.

Jackson Browne With Special Guest David Lindley At Hard Rock Las Vegas

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne will take to the road this summer with his band and longtime friend and musical co-conspirator David Lindley. Comprising dates in the U.S. and Europe, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour follows the May 11 release of Love Is Strange (Inside Recordings), a 2-CD live set capturing a tour of Spain that Browne and Lindley did in 2006. Stateside, the Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour gets underway July 20 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Accompanying Jackson Browne and David Lindley on tour will be Browne’s band of almost 20 years: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals). They’re joined by members (since 2008) Chavonne Stewart and Alethea Mills, vocalists Browne (as a mentor) met in 2001 when they were attending Washington Preparatory High School in South Los Angeles, singing in the school choir.

On record and in performance, Jackson Browne and David Lindley have a musical association reaching back almost 40 years. Regarded as a legendary stringed-instrument virtuoso, Lindley has played on many of Browne’s albums, beginning with 1973′s For Everyman, and on classics including Late For The Sky and The Pretender (the latter two both on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time). Browne also produced Lindley’s best-known LP, 1983′s acclaimed El Rayo-X.

Prior to 2010′s Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour, the last time the two musicians played live dates together was a 2006 run of concerts in Spain—in grand concert halls, rock venues, and intimate clubs alike. That tour resulted in the forthcoming 2-CD album Love Is Strange, “En Vivo Con Tino”— featuring Browne and Lindley live with celebrated Spanish percussionist Tino di Geraldo. Set for worldwide release May 11 on Browne’s independent label Inside Recordings, Love Is Strange was produced by Jackson Browne and Paul Dieter.

In liner notes Browne wrote for Love Is Strange, he considers Lindley’s reputation for elusiveness, nearly as mythic as his string-playing prowess. “Why had I not thought of this before? Take him where he doesn’t speak the language and he will HAVE TO leave the gig and come with you to the restaurant, or to the club,” says Browne. “This was an unexpected strategy breakthrough in a pursuit that for a legion of friends, disciples and admirers has become known as ‘stalking the wild Lindley.’”

The breakthrough continues with the not-to-be-missed 2010 Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour.

Bellagio Establishes New Record As Home To The Most Master Sommeliers In The World

Bellagio is proud to announce the appointment of Darius Allyn, a distinguished member of the Court of Master Sommeliers, to the position of Sommelier for Osterio de Circo and Sensi. Allyn becomes the fourth on the already impressive team of Master Sommeliers, joining Joseph Phillips of MICHAEL MINA, Robert Smith of Picasso and Director of Wine Jason Smith. This honor further validates Bellagio’s commitment to excellence and establishes it as the only hotel in the world with four Master Sommeliers at a single property.

“We’re ecstatic to have Darius as the newest member of our team and that he brings with him such a rare accomplishment,” Director of Wine Jason Smith said. “With this addition, Bellagio further solidifies its wine program among the finest in the world.”

Home to 17 sommeliers, Bellagio has become a place where aspiring sommeliers become masters. Believing you can’t sell it if you haven’t seen it and tasted it, training at Bellagio focuses on seminars, frequent tastings and travel.

Considered the highest honor among wine professionals, the title of Master Sommelier recognizes the utmost level of wine and spirits knowledge. Three levels of training must be completed before pursuing the Master Sommelier diploma: Introductory Sommelier, Certified Sommelier and Advanced Sommelier. Upon completion of these courses, candidates are required to pass a rigorous 3-part exam, testing the extent of their knowledge. The test consists of a verbal exam, service exam and a blind tasting.

Known for its dedication to personal and attentive wine service, Bellagio caters to a variety of palates, occasions and budgets. Bellagio sells more wine than any other hospitality outlet in the country, maintaining approximately 60,000 bottles, 4,000 selections and 250 wines by the glass at any given time. Bellagio also is able to secure entire allocations of a particular wine, contributing to the vastness and exclusivity of the selection.

In an effort to create a guest-centric wine experience, diners can request a bottle of wine from one restaurant at Bellagio while dining at another. The sommeliers share resources allowing them to locate bottles that do not exist in their own cellars and deliver them to guests within minutes.

Randy Morton, president and COO of Bellagio, said, “We will continue to offer our guests a transcendent wine experience that is accessible, educational and enjoyable. With this latest accomplishment, Bellagio continues to further its reputation as one of the world’s premier resort destinations.”

THE POOLS

Fortuna
An 18-foot waterfall is the centerpiece of this pool, where guests can enjoy swim-up blackjack. Guests who wish to socialize and connect gather near the Fortuna (swim-up blackjack) pool, flanked in circular sun lounge couches near the Fortuna Bar, where creative mixologists blend cocktails with freshly squeezed juices.

Apollo
Apollo was the Roman god of light and the sun, so it is only fitting that the pool best suited for sun worshipping is named after this deity. The Apollo pool is positioned at the southwest corridor of the oasis for maximum sun exposure and features five cabanas and six canopied daybeds as well as chaise lounges perfect for soaking in the Las Vegas sun.

Bacchus
Elevated 18-feet in the area, the two Bacchus pools are framed by two graceful curved staircases and available only to invited guests. Private, shallow sun chaise pools, an individual whirlpool and VIP cabanas staffed with butlers are some of the area’s special features.

Neptune
Situated near the Fortuna bar, the Neptune pool is the social hub of the Garden of the Gods – the perfect place to mingle, meet and greet. The Neptune pool features eight cabanas, 10 daybeds (available in three different varieties) and chaise lounge chairs.

Jupiter
The cabana-lined Jupiter pool offers a quiet respite from the social scene. Designed for lengthy lounging, the Jupiter pool is distinctive for its subdued ambient music and large, custom-designed cabanas equipped to provide relaxing spa services from Qua Baths & Spa.

Temple
The crowning centerpiece of Garden of the Gods, Temple is where shade truly meets sun. Families enjoy the large round Temple pool, where young swimmers-in-training often splash under the rotunda’s central fountains and play on the steps around its large perimeter.

Venus
Scheduled to open April 1st, The Venus Pool Club is the most well-appointed and exclusive pool experience in Las Vegas, a sophisticated and secluded European-style retreat from the people who brought you PURE Nightclub. Guests age 21 and older are welcomed to the Venus pool.
SPA TREATMENTS AND SERVICES

For guests looking to indulge not only in the sun but also spa, the world-renowned, award-winning Qua Baths & Spa offers poolside treatments. Spa services also include neck massages at deck chairs as well as full-service massages in the large Jupiter spa cabana.
POOLSIDE COCKTAILS
