Wynn and Encore Las Vegas Valentine’s Day Specials

This Valentine’s Day, Cupid aims his bow at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas, with festivities taking place throughout the restaurants, lounges and nightclubs. Among the highlights:

Aphrodisiac Valentine’s Specials at The Country Club
This Valentine’s Day, executive chef Carlos Guia is serving special aphrodisiac dishes at The Country Club. Diners can get in the mood with dishes such as chilled oysters on the half shell with cucumber-ginger granite, Wasabi caviar and tomato-chipotle granite with yuzu caviar and white and green asparagus with prosciuto di Parma and black truffle vinaigrette. Seal the deal by splitting chocolate fondue for two with all the fixings.

Guests indulge in spiny lobster medallions with candy stripe beet, ruby grapefruit and blood orange dressing, followed by agnolotti with braised veal and winter truffles and filet mignon with king trumpet mushrooms, asparagus tips and fondant potato. Top off the decadence with cioccolatissimo, warm molten chocolate cake with passion fruit ice cream. Includes a long stemmed red rose and a copy of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Seduction’ CD.

A Romance Play in Three Acts at Society
Valentine’s Day gets hip at Society Café Encore, where chef Kim Canteenwalla offers a three-course dinner for two with a choice of appetizers such as mac n’cheese bites with warm truffle dipping sauce and a salad of young beets with Laurel Chennel goat cheese. Entrée choices are roasted salmon with quinoa pilaf, shaved fennel and citrus salad; Jidori chicken tasting with pan seared breast, braised leg ‘Hunter style’, shaved Brussels Sprouts and lobster mushrooms and petite filet mignon with potato and bacon hash, Society steak sauce. For the finale, Society’s famous XXXL Chocolate Cake with dark and white chocolate shavings and two forks will set sweet tooths swooning. The prix fixe is $110 per couple plus tax, tip and beverages; regular a la carte menu also available.

The Dreamiest Cocktail
For those looking for a delicious cocktail to please their Valentine, Wynn and Encore mixologist Patricia Richards suggests The Dream: an elixir that pairs Absolut Kurrant vodka with St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, rock candy syrup and Perrier Jouet Grand Brut Champagne. The special cocktail can be enjoyed at the Parasol Up and Down lounges at Wynn Las Vegas.

About The Band:
The ability to evolve and push boundaries has never been more important than it is now. While the mainstream becomes safer, the dynamic, genre-bending acts are driven underground, to be discovered by a whole new generation of music fans not content with the identikit bands pushed at them through the major media. It is this hallowed place that A DAY TO REMEMBER has not-so-subtly been taking over, from stereos to mosh pits across the world. While the music industry scrambles to discover the next big thing, A DAY TO REMEMBER has been becoming it, showing that with the right amount of hard work, strong songs, an unfaltering self-belief, and that indefinable spark of something really special, anything is possible.

Rising from the punk rock hotbed of Florida in 2003, Josh Woodard (bass), Alex Shellnutt (drums), Neil Westfall (guitar), Jeremy McKinnon (vocals) and Tom Denney (guitar) formed A DAY TO REMEMBER, crafting a blend of the music they loved into a niche of their own. Their sound combined the punk-pop of BLINK-182 and NEW FOUND GLORY with brutal hardcore beatdowns, sending shudders through the underground. Their debut on Indianola records sold 8,000 copies with little promotion, and attracted the attention of Victory Records, who signed them in 2006. “When we first got signed, our goal wasn’t to blow up or even sell a ton of records,” recalls bassist Josh Woodward. “All we wanted to do was stay on tour, and play to as many kids as possible.” The result exceeded even their expectations, as the infectious, explosive energy of their live shows helped them organically grow a fanbase that multiplied each time they played.

With the release of their breakthrough album For Those Who Have Heart, A DAY TO REMEMBER went global. In the two short years after its release in early 2007, the band grew from a small band with a dedicated local fan-base into a worldwide phenomenon, gaining the respect and adoration from their peers as much as their fans. This is no overnight success – the band has worked hard to win over every fan they make. But the’perfect storm’ of their dedication, rapidly-spreading buzz and undeniable musical abilities have made this young band one of the most talked about bands in rock, gaining themselves a coveted slot in Alternative Press’ Most Anticipated Albums 2009 issue. Selling out tours worldwide, their lyrics “Mark my words: we’re taking over the world” became a self-fulfilling prophecy, as the band hit the road with bands they grew up listening to like New Found Glory and Silverstein, and had a full summer on the Vans Warped Tour.

Embraced by the media, A DAY TO REMEMBER made it on to “Ones To Watch” lists internationally, picking up a Kerrang! Award nomination for Best International Newcomer; the video for their rocked-up cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” unshakable from music television over summer 2008.

Their new album Homesick sees them using their ascension as a springboard, ready to launch them into the big time. “Homesick is a culmination of 2 1/2 years of being gone on the road,” Woodard notes. “It represents what we’ve been through, what’s ahead of us, and the lessons we’ve learned in between. It’s the heaviest and catchiest record we’ve ever written, and we couldn’t be more excited for people to hear it. We’re all so proud of what we just made, and think it really sets us up to jump to that next level.”

In an industry where you have to evolve to stay ahead, A DAY TO REMEMBER is standing defiant, leading the genre-straddling pack in a battle cry, ready for the fight of their lives. Grab your friends, “disrespect your surroundings”, and watch A DAY TO REMEMBER set the world alight. The mainstream won’t know what hit it.

* Feb. 25 through 27 – Comedian Sebastian Maniscalco

Playboy Comedy show times are as follows:

Thursday – 10 p.m.

Friday – 10 p.m.

Saturday – 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

About Nick Di Paolo:

In this day of watered down comedy Nick Di Paolo’s brutally honest performances remind audiences of what great stand up should be: funny, socially relevant and a little bit reckless. His seething, sarcastic style landed him at clubs such as Catch a Rising Star, Caroline’s and The Comedy Cellar. It was at clubs like these where he honed his uncompromising point of view, which makes him not only a club favorite, but a true “comic’s comic.”

Di Paolo has performed on shows including “The Tonight Show,” HBO’s “Young Comedians Special,” “Late Night with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” He was twice nominated for an Emmy for his writing on “The Chris Rock Show” and has also had three half-hour stand up specials of his own on Comedy Central. Di Paolo was one of the stars on “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” and a stand out on many Comedy Central roasts; he also had guest starring roles on “Lucky Louie” and “The Sopranos” as well as films including Artie Lange’s “Beer League.” He is a favorite on both Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony and hosted his own show on New York’s 92.3 Free FM. For more information, please visit www.myspace.com/nickdipaolo.

About Sebastian Maniscalco:

Los Angeles-based Sebastian Maniscalco’s facial expressions and complete disgust with human behavior have given him the reputation as one of the most sought-after comedians working today. Maniscalco’s comedy is impeccably paced and chock-full of seething observations on daily human behavior. Most recently, he has starred in the film “Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show” and his “Comedy Central Presents” special is the highest rated comedy special on ONDEMAND.

His humor also created memorable spots on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Comics Unleashed” and Showtime’s “Comics Without Boarders.” His comedy is so diverse, it has enabled him to work with prestigious acts such as B.B. King, Al Green, Anita Baker, Gladys Knight and Dennis Miller. His DVD “Sebastian Live” is currently available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.com. Legendary Comedian Don Rickles Returns To Orleans Showroom February 20-21

The much-honored comedian will launch his 51st consecutive year as a Las Vegas headliner when he brings his one-of-a-kind humor to The Orleans Showroom February 20 and 21, marking his third consecutive year of performances at The Orleans Showroom.

Rickles took his first step toward national fame in 1957 when Frank Sinatra wandered into the small Hollywood nightclub where Rickles was performing. The still-unknown Rickles eyed Sinatra and said, “I just saw your movie, The Pride and the Passion, and I want to tell you, the cannon’s acting was great. And, make yourself at home, Frank. Hit somebody.” Sinatra doubled up laughing and became one of Rickles’ biggest boosters among Hollywood celebrities. Rickles soon became the “in” comic among Hollywood stars, who flocked to his nightclub engagements to become the targets of his insults.

As a star-struck kid in New York City, Rickles aspired to share the big screen with such greats as Clark Gable and James Cagney. His wish came true in 1958 when he appeared in Run Silent Run Deep, starring Clark Gable. Rickles went on to receive critical praise for his villainous performance in The Rat Race in 1960.

During a period between acting assignments, Rickles tried and succeeded at stand-up comedy. Audiences laughed harder at his impromptu insults than at his prepared material, and Rickles’ legend as the king of insult comics was born.

Rickles has also starred in films and television shows, including Casino, Kelly’s Heroes, Gilligan’s Island, The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, Toy Story and Toy Story 2, and most recently, the CBS hit series The Unit. Rickles won two Primetime Emmy Awards, including the 2008 HBO special Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project for Best Individual Performance in a Variety or Musical.

Showtime is 8 p.m.
