M Resort Lights Nations Tallest Christmas Tree

M ResortOur White Fir came on the largest allowable flatbed truck, a 900-mile journey from Oregon and on Saturday it “came alive” with thousands of lights. M Resort Spa Casino Chairman and CEO Anthony A. Marnell III and his children flipped the switch to lit the tree. More than 3,000 people came out to our piazza. Hot chocolate, sugar cookies, warm cider, candy canes put smiles on faces.

The lighting was hosted by KSNE 106.5′s Melanie and Michael and a special thanks to Cannon Junior High School, Las Vegas Academy Advanced Women’s Choir, Dance Zone and Phat Strad.

Authentic Coal From The RMS Titanic Makes Fun Last Minute Stocking Stuffer!

This is coal you WANT to find in your stocking this year! Whether a prince or a pauper, every history buff can have a memento of the RMS Titanic now available at the retail shop inside Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor. Come see the half million dollar, 55 pound piece of coal currently on display and if $500,000 is slightly out of the budget, pieces are available for $20 and $45. Take home a commemorative keepsake today that was part of the 5,892 tons of coal loaded onboard the Titanic when it left England almost a century ago.

Raised from the depths of the North Atlantic, coal is the only artifact salvaged from the Ship of Dreams that can be sold to the public. One hundred fifty-nine furnaces burned almost 700 tons of coal each day to drive the Ship’s three massive propellers. This extraordinary fuel source made the Titanic capable of 23 knots, which was a slightly slower speed for ships of the time but the engineering design provided Titanic with far more spacious, comfortable and luxurious accommodations.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor provides visitors with the opportunity to become a passenger and feel the excitement of that April day as they move through expanded Exhibition galleries; view more than 20 never-before-seen authentic artifacts including gaming chips, passenger personal papers and decorative sections from Titanic’s famed Grand Staircase; and experience the Ship’s historical journey in chronological order: from the construction yards, to her maiden voyage, first and third class room re-creations, the Promenade Deck, the Grand Staircase, the fated sinking, to modern day recovery efforts.

Each piece of commemorative coal comes with a certificate of authenticity and is from the 1994 Titanic Research and Recovery Expedition. Object No. 94/0036 (this means it was the 36th object recovered during the 1994 expedition dive). Contact Amina Larara at alarara@prxi.com or 702.262.4505 to purchase.

Other band members are high skilled, professional musicians that painstakingly recreate the sound that made INXS such an enormous success.

The Joshua Tree (www.joshuatreeband.com) is the nation’s premier tribute to U2. Playing each song with the same intensity and emotion, the band covers all phases of U2′s career from their first album Boy to the most recent, No Line on the Horizon. Without compromising artistic integrity, the band has gone to great lengths to reproduce the distinct sound of one of the world’s most popular rock bands.

Blasphemous Rumours (www.depechetribute.com) meticulous attention to detail and an emphasis on accuracy in sound, imagery and performance sets them apart from other Depeche Mode tribute acts. The band brings their powerful note for note renditions of all of Depeche Mode’s hits, along with fan favorites, from every era to the masses throughout the U.S. and beyond.

Fan Halen (www.fanhalen.net ) brings back the party-time, hard-rocking music of classic Van Halen with a true-to-life tribute to not only the band, but the spirit of the era. Fan Halen sets the stage for a night with Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael in a transformation that has been described as amazingly authentic.

A Led Zepagain show features all of the Zeppelin highlights, from the high-energy electric classics, to the beautiful acoustic works. From the moment Led Zepagain hits the stage, audiences will believe they’re the true tribute to the outstanding band.
Aeromyth, the ultimate tribute to Aerosmith (www.aerosmithtribute.com ), not only has amazing Steven Tyler and Joe Perry look-alikes, but all band members look and sound like the band members they portray. The group performs all of Aerosmith’s greatest hits from classic songs such as “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion” and “Toys,” to more current hits like “Dude Looks Like a Lady,” “Jaded,” and “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”

Appetite for Destruction (www.notquitegnr.com), the ultimate tribute to Guns N’ Roses, formed in 2006, travels the country delivering the most authentic tributes to Guns N’ Roses, circa 1987-1993 that audiences will ever see. The tribute act plays favorites include “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “Paradise City,” “Patience” and many more.

“As part of America’s Party, Fremont Street Experience’s New Year’s Eve celebration is the party of the year. Nothing can compare to standing beneath 12.5 million lights counting down the last seconds of the year with the classic Las Vegas neon flashing, nonstop entertainment and everyone having the time of their lives,” said Jeff Victor, president of Fremont Street Experience. “We’re very excited to be bringing the world’s best tribute bands and an outstanding fireworks display to Downtown Las Vegas.”

Viva Vision®, the LED display canopy rising 90 feet in height and stretching 1,500 feet along the Fremont Street Experience promenade from Main Street to Fourth Street, forms a spectacular foyer for the existing resorts. Stretching the length of five football fields, Viva Vision serves as the showcase for the world’s largest graphic display system. Within the canopy itself are 208 speakers capable of producing 550,000 watts of concert-quality sound.
