An Evening Of Romance With Clint Holmes Brings Las Vegas’ Legend Back To The Suncoast Showroom August 28-30

Back by popular demand, the smooth, charismatic Clint Holmes returns to the Suncoast Showroom in An Evening of Romance with Clint Holmes, musically directed by Bill Fayne, August 28, 29 and 30.

Audiences can look forward to hearing a variety of songs with the shared theme of romance. Holmes will perform a range of old standards, treasures from “The Great American Songbook” – featuring songs that tell the story of the first 50 years of American popular music from New Orleans jazz to Broadway musicals – and selections from the likes of Sting, John Mayer, Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder. Holmes will also sing romantic originals from his own repertoire. In addition, singer and guitarist Jerry Lopez of the popular group Santa Fe and The Fat City Horns will make a guest appearance. Holmes and Lopez are expected to perform an exciting duet that embodies the evening’s theme – romance.

Holmes returns to the Suncoast Showroom on the heels of the wildly popular debut of Vocal Soup, in which he partnered with long-time friends Susan Anton, Domenick Allen and Martin Nievera for a showcase of solo performances, duets and group numbers. The show had a sell-out weekend in June, a testament to Holmes’ singing and showmanship skills, plus the realization of the group’s dream of rekindling the Las Vegas tradition of entertainers coming together in an “anything can happen” atmosphere.

Holmes’ fans know him as more than just a singer. He’s famous for making every performance an original and captivating audiences with his signature style. Among his many recordings is the Top 10 smash hit “Playground In My Mind (My Name Is Michael).” His album “Edges” produced many other standout songs, including “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” the romantic “Shouldn’t It Be Easy By Now,” the playful “Gotta Get Up” and the thought-provoking “Let My Son See Africa.”

Known best in Las Vegas for his recent six-year run in Clint Holmes at Harrah’s, during which he was named Las Vegas’ “Best Singer” by readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Holmes’ fame stretches far beyond Southern Nevada. Named Atlantic City’s “Entertainer of the Year” three times, Holmes starred in Clint Holmes’ Sophisticated Rhythms, a dynamic stage show that traveled through music from the 1940s to the present. His 1996 critically acclaimed musical Comfortable Shoes, which opened in New Jersey, was a poignant and uplifting journey into Holmes’ interracial family’s struggle to find its identity. In 2002, an updated version of the musical opened at The Royal George Theatre in Chicago. Among the show’s rave reviews, the Chicago Tribune called it “a night of fully realized theatrical entertainment.”

In a career that began with an invitation from Joan Rivers to be her sidekick and announcer on The Late Show, Clint Holmes has proven himself as a well-respected performer, even earning the honor of being the featured performer at the Democratic National Convention on the evening of Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential nomination.

Tickets are now available starting from $29.95, plus tax. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075 or visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.

Legendary Entertainer Bill Cosby Shares Humor, Insights At The Treasure Island Theatre, September 5

Iconic funny man Bill Cosby, who has been making audiences laugh for decades with his keen insight into everyday existence, brings his signature comedy to the Treasure Island Theatre for one night only, September 5. Showtimes are 7:30 and 10 p.m.

In an illustrious career defined by intelligent standup comedy, a groundbreaking 1980s hit show – “The Cosby Show” – and advocacy for education and good parenting, Cosby ranks as one of America’s most influential stars. Audiences adore Cosby’s take on the vast, ordinary world, as he gives a twist of the ridiculous to everyday faults, foibles and successes. When Cosby takes the stage, he points out the humor in life, and in doing so touches the hearts of audience members, and endears himself to people of every age and interest.

About his performances Cosby says, “I feel that in-person contact with people is the most important thing in comedy. While I’m up on stage, I can actually put myself into the audience and adjust my pace and timing to them. I can get into their heads through their ears and through their eyes. Only through this total communication can I really achieve what I’m trying to do.”

With an uncanny ability to connect with people through humor that provides an insight into the role of parents, children, family members, men and women, Cosby has earned respect from critics and adoration from fans. Without resorting to gimmickry or lowbrow humor, Cosby has been compared to such great American humorists as Charlie Chaplin, Will Rogers, W.C. Fields and Groucho Marx. A testament to his status in the world of comedy, Cosby has earned five Grammy Awards for best comedy album.

Known the world over for “The Cosby Show,” which ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC, Cosby broke racial barriers and sent a powerful message to viewers – that the family unit and raising children matters most. The No. 1 rated sitcom, which many credited for single-handedly resurrecting the television sitcom, earned six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and 10 People’s Choice Awards. It helped set the stage for Cosby’s career as an author, as his book “Fatherhood” remained at No. 1 for more than half of its 54 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List. Among Cosby’s other titles are “Time Flies,” “Love and Marriage,” “Come On People: On the Path from Victims to Victors” and “Friends of a Feather: One of Life’s Little Fables,” illustrated by his daughter.

A champion of youth, Cosby’s dedication to helping children realize their potential is evidenced through his Emmy Award-winning “Little Bill” animated series, which aired on Nickelodeon and CBS. Together with partners Tom Werner and Marcy Carsey, Cosby produced “A Different World” on NBC from 1987 to 1993. His other television and film credits include the “I Spy” series, “The Cosby Mysteries,” “Man and Boy” and “Uptown Saturday Night,” where he starred alongside Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte. He has written, produced and directed educational television shows and animated specials.

Few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of Cosby, who emerged from humble beginnings in a Philadelphia housing project. After returning from the Navy, Cosby went on to earn a degree at Temple University and later a master’s and doctoral degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts. As philanthropists, Cosby and wife Camille have made substantial gifts in support of education and to various social service and civil rights organizations. His lifelong contributions to American culture were recognized with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1998 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in July 2002, America’s highest civilian honor.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas Introduces Paradise Tower – Next Phase of $750 Million Expansion Opens Ahead Of Schedule Adding 490 Guest Rooms To Inventory And Creating Jobs

Opening July 31, Paradise Tower becomes the newest addition to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The highly anticipated project, completed almost two months ahead of schedule, has created jobs and hope as the Las Vegas horizon begins to see signs of resurgence.

Just as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is known in a sense for upping the game in Las Vegas, the new Paradise Tower steps up the Hard Rock’s game on the hotel side. The tower’s 490 lavish rooms were designed with the property’s signature party attitude in mind but with a jolt of sexy sophistication. Hotel devotees will notice a significantly more luxurious atmosphere in Paradise Tower, but without sacrificing the irreverent, anything-can-happen feeling that they’ve come to expect. Rooms evoke visions of a rock ‘n’ roll manor house, using iconic materials like leather, wood and silver studded velvet to enhance the sensory experience and emphasize that this is no standard hotel room. Designed by Mark Zeff, the rooms exude a chic playfulness with atmospheric touches that allow for optimal comfort and function by day, but then come alive at night.

Adding to the allure of Paradise Tower’s 18 floors are its Penthouse and 10 pool suites. The mega size Penthouse maxes out at 3,500 square feet with floor to ceiling windows throughout offering sweeping panoramic views. Arguably the best view yet in all of Las Vegas, the glittering Strip can be seen unobstructed from end to end while a turn in either direction provides expansive views of surrounding mountains. Get past the amazing views and the Penthouse interior is all wow-factor. Deep mahogany woods, platinum tiles, oversize hot tub, interactive digital pool table and not just a big screen, an entire video wall.

The pool suites, aptly named because they overlook and some offer direct access to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s world famous Beach Club pool, each offer something entirely different. Predictably the most coveted real estate in the tower, the pool suites boast features such as two-level “duplexes”, doors that open to direct access to your own cabana or to the pool deck, or a spacious glass balcony that places you hovering over the best pool scene in town. Four of these mini jewels are Zeff-designed to follow the same guest room aesthetic but on a larger scale. The remaining six pool suites are the visions of local design talent Mark Tracy of Chemical Spaces. Tracy was given carte blanche to create six suite versions of the ultimate ultra lounge. Each suite has a life of its own, transporting the guest into another world of rock ‘n’ roll fantasy using giant hand painted graphic murals, bold colors, shimmering tiles and high gloss elements mixed with white hardwood floors.

“The Hard Rock is evolving,” said Phil Shalala, Hard Rock’s vice president of marketing, “It has really melded into the perfect property for the young affluent consumer that is into music, fashion, technology and lifestyle in general. It really stands for that perfect balance.”
