For more than 40 years, The Temptations have shined as pioneers of popular music with decades of smash hits and sold-out performances. From September 17-20, Otis Williams, Bruce Williamson, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon will bring classic Motown to The Orleans Showroom for four nights, starting at 8 p.m. each evening.

The Temptations are central characters in the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temptations began their musical career in Detroit in the early ’60s. In 1964, Smokey Robinson wrote and produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” the first major hit for The Temptations. An avalanche of hits followed, including “My Girl,” “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep” and “I Wish It Would Rain.”

Beyond their fabulous singing, The Temptations became known for smooth-stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptation Walk became the staple of American style, flair, flash and class.

When the ’60s and ’70s turned political, The Temptations got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music with smoldering hits as “Runaway Child,” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “Psychedelic Shack.” The Temptations explosion continued in the ’80’s with their appearance on Motown 25 in 1983, and roared into the ’90’s with the NBC mini-series in 1998 that chronicled the group’s early days and rise to fame, earning them a coveted Emmy Award.

Rocker Kid Rock brings his badass live performance to The Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.

Grammy award-nominated Kid Rock released several successful albums including Devil Without A Cause in ‘98 which includes smash hits, “Bawitdaba,” “Cowboy” and “Only God Knows Why” in addition to becoming Diamond Award certified by RIAA with more than 10 million copies sold. The History Of Rock album released in 2000 hit No. 2 on the Billboard Album Chart as well as receiving triple platinum certification by RIAA as more than 3 million fans ran out to purchase the follow up album. Cocky, quickly released one year later, includes a top 10 hit Rock sang with Sheryl Crow entitled, “Picture” – showing a softer, country influenced side of Rock. The album received outstanding reviews, went platinum four times and continued to stay on the Billboard 200 Album Chart for more than 100 weeks.

The date is set for the mega-fight between boxing’s No. 1 pound-for-pound king and reigning Boxing Writers Association of America’s (BWAA) Fighter of the Year, Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao, and the pride of Puerto Rico and three-time world champion Miguel Cotto. Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto, “FirePower” will take place Saturday, Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9 p.m. PST/6 p.m. PST.

“Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto have reached an agreement to fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 14,” said Top Rank Chief Executive Officer Bob Arum. Top Rank is currently working on a major media tour to commence immediately following Labor Day weekend. Details will be announced in the near future.

Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs), of General Santos City, Philippines, has won six world titles in as many different weight divisions ranging from 112 to 140 pounds. His performance in 2008 was described as “Henry Armstrongesque” as he won world titles at 130 and 135 pounds with victories over Juan Manuel Marquez and David Diaz, respectively, and knocked out Oscar De La Hoya at 147 pounds to complete the trifecta. The winning streak continued in 2009 when he won another world title in a new weight division, dealing defending junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton a second-round knockout in May at MGM Grand.

Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs), from Caguas, Puerto Rico, has held a world title every year since 2004. Puerto Rico’s most exciting fighter, Cotto held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight crown from 2004-2006. He successfully defended it six times before vacating it to capture the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title at the end of 2006, a title he held for nearly as long. He won his second welterweight title earlier this year as he knocked out Michael Jennings in the fifth round at Madison Square Garden to become the WBO Welterweight Champion. Notable victories on Cotto’s belt include Sugar Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Joshua Clottey, Pauli Malinaggi and Demarcus Corley.

Pop Megastar Kelly Clarkson will be bringing her much anticipated All I Ever Wanted Tour to The Joint this fall. Joining Clarkson are red-hot Australian sister duo The Veronicas and rising band Parachute.

Clarkson has sold more than 20 million albums since her 2002 debut. Her All I Ever Wanted release shattered Billboard Records, when My Live Would Suck Without You jumped from #97 to #1 in its first week of release. Clarkson premiered her current single Already Gone on The Late Show with David Letterman.
