Vintage Vegas Entertainment Returns To the Suncoast Showroom With Shades of Sinatra October 2-4

Celebrate the life of legendary Frank Sinatra and relive the unrivaled sound of “Ol’ Blue Eyes” when Shades of Sinatra returns to the Suncoast Showroom, October 2, 3 and 4.

Designed as a vintage, off-the-cuff Vegas show, Shades of Sinatra doesn’t try to impersonate the man, but instead blends signature Frank Sinatra favorites with some of the most beloved sounds from his era in a show aimed at both long-time and casual Sinatra fans. Humor and good-natured ribbing among cast members tie together the musical numbers and storytelling.

In 2005, Shades of Sinatra creator Kelly Clinton assembled the group’s three male vocalists, Larry Liso, Ryan Baker and Carmine Mandia, all heavily influenced by Sinatra. Individually, each loved to perform Sinatra songs at restaurants, lounges and corporate events, including Baker’s 2005 engagement at the Artisan Hotel, Liso’s 2006 stint at the Westin and Mandia’s spot-on portrayal of Sinatra in the Greek Isles’ Rat Pack show. Lisa Smith joined Shades of Sinatra in 2006, bringing her extensive theatrical background and adding an exciting female presence and musical spark to the performance.

The group’s following has exploded since their debut show in the Stirling Club at Turnberry Place. Over the years, Shades of Sinatra has drawn capacity crowds at Bootlegger Bistro and has been a favorite at Suncoast, where the group has a standing engagement. Through corporate and private events, Shades of Sinatra has also gained a following beyond Las Vegas. With a special feel for Sinatra classics and masterful instrumental and vocal repertoire, Shades of Sinatra was honored in 2007 as “Best Tribute Show” from the Entertainment Consumers’ Exchange.

Tickets are now available starting from $19.95, plus tax. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075

Country Superstar Wynonna Sings The Chapters Of Her Life At The Orleans Showroom September 25-27

Iconic country singer Wynonna brings her 2009 tour and a stunning glimpse into her 25-year epic musical journey to The Orleans Showroom for three nights only, September 25, 26 and 27.

Audiences will witness Wynonna sing the chapters of her life as she performs an eclectic assortment of country, rock, blues and soul-bearing standards from her current album, Sing: Chapter 1. The album, Wynonna’s seventh solo effort, is powered by emotional sonnets that formed the backbone of The Judds’ own musical standards. Songs include the swinging big band tilt of “That’s How Rhythm Was Born,” one of the earliest songs Wynonna remembers singing with her mother Naomi, “‘Til I Get It Right,” the Tammy Wynette heartbreaker, “Ain’t No Sunshine,” the Bill Withers classic and “I’m A Woman,” popularized by Maria Muldaur. The album also includes the brand new hit “Sing,” written by Rodney Crowell, which has already received praise from critics.

“If you want to hear a singer’s singer, one who can move you to the core of your being – Wynonna Judd’s deeply moving, authentic ‘Sing: Chapter 1′ is a fine place to begin. This may be her finest hour,” raves the All Music Guide.

“All my musical chapters are here,” says Wynonna, with her trademark enthusiasm. “Every genre. These are the songs that have moved me ever since I was a little girl. These are the songs I have turned to for comfort and insight at every point in my life.”

Called “the greatest female country singer since Patsy Cline” by Rolling Stone magazine, Wynonna has an impressive list of credentials, including more than 10 million albums sold, multiple platinum-plus/gold-plus albums, 16 Top Ten hits and a Top Female Vocalist of the Year Award from the Academy of Country Music. Having played countless sold-out tours, Wynonna’s passion for rock and gutsy R&B has long been a hallmark of her charismatic live shows, as she’s been a welcome guest of rock icons like U2 and The Rolling Stones.

Of her unique ability to connect with fans from all walks of life, Wynonna says, “I’m blessed with the greatest fans in the world. Even when I’m recording, I try to imagine them having a bad day and my music coming on and making them stop for a second, and hopefully feel something that they otherwise may have been too busy to notice.”

Wynonna’s rapport with fans dates back to the early-1980s launch of The Judds, featuring Wynonna and her mother Naomi, whose humble Kentucky family life reflected the everyday struggles of many Americans. Time magazine credited the duo with “single-handedly saving country music.” Their kitchen table harmonies and home-spun rapport was a breath of fresh air to a stagnant country music scene at the time. The Judds won seven CMA Country Duo of the Year honors, five Grammys and have sold more than 20 million records.

Varvatos Brings Its Bowery Act To Las Vegas – New Boutique Opens In The Hard Rock HOtel & Casino This September

John Varvatos Enterprises is pleased to add its second John Varvatos Bowery NYC concept store to its growing roster of free-standing stores, bringing the grand total to ten. This latest incarnation is located inside the newly renovated Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Inspired by the authentic vibe of the original Bowery boutique (housed in a space that once was the home of seminal underground music club CBGB’s) and by the rich musical history of the Hard Rock, the new Bowery NYC is a subtle and sophisticated counterpoint to the standard glitz of Las Vegas.

Like the New York Bowery space, the 3,000 square-foot Hard Rock boutique is a venue where fashion and music can live and groove together. Since John Varvatos’ early days in Detroit, his exposure to the unique and edgy personal style of rock icons from Alice Cooper to The Who inspired the designer and influenced the evolution of his eclectic sensibility. The Bowery NYC concept is close to Varvatos’ heart and represents an opportunity to fully express his personal passions. The designer is excited about creating a new and special version of this concept specifically with Las Vegas in mind and looks forward to bringing it to life in other locations equally steeped in musical culture.

“Beyond my vision of fashion, I feel like we’re also bringing a unique bit of rock ‘n’ roll culture to Las Vegas. We’ll be hosting great events like live concerts, record release parties and live broadcasts of my “Born in Detroit” show on Sirius, so it will be a gathering place for both fans and artists,” said Varvatos.

The store features a stage similar to the one in the New York City Bowery location, with top-of-the-line gear including a backline provided by Gibson Guitars, Marshall amplifiers, Yamaha drums and Zildjian cymbals. The stage and equipment will be used not only for planned events like the opening party, but also for impromptu jam sessions from visiting rockers, stars and shoppers alike.

In addition to all three John Varvatos brands (Collection, Star USA and Converse), the new store is the exclusive Nevada dealer of James Trussart guitars. Made from custom shaped metals, these high-end guitars have landed in the hands of well-known collectors such as Billy Gibbons of ZZ-Top, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, and Rick Neilson of Cheap Trick.

The Bowery NYC store will also showcase an extensive offering of vintage vinyl records and audio equipment; handcrafted rock-influenced jewelry; and vintage clothing, including rare denim, leather jackets, concert tees, belts and boots.

As is often the case in Las Vegas, the space is new, but the Varvatos team has infused this location with the character and patina long associated with the brand. Found objects from Paris flea markets handpicked by Varvatos himself include enormous blackened steel doors and a gigantic factory fan transformed into a table top; vintage smoky mirrors and chandeliers; and industrial stage lights. The walls will feature only the rarest of show posters for some of the biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll, as well as familiar and unpublished work from some of the world’s most respected rock photographers including Jim Marshall, Danny Clinch and Mick Rock.

There will be a 30 ft. video wall that will play host to the most iconic rock videos of all time, in addition to being a background for live performances, through various camera angles and multi media light shows.

The honest design of the new storefront exposes the industrial hardware of blackened steel and glass sliding doors. Walls are made of black brick and oxblood painted wood, and the wood floors contain occasional planks of blackened metal stamped with Varvatos hallmarks of authenticity—a technique the designer discovered in a French factory. The overall effect is subtle, with a richly textured, rough-hewn elegance.

The store’s opening party will feature legendary rockers Cheap Trick, fresh off a recent tour promoting their newest record entitled, “The Latest.” Comprised of four members, Bun E. Carlos, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Robin Zander, Cheap Trick has sold over 20 million albums and been together for 34 years making and performing unforgettable music. They have been featured artists in the John Varvatos ad campaign.
