Kenny G Returns To The Orleans Showroom July 10-12

The world’s most renowned saxophonist, Kenny G, returns to The Orleans Showroom July 10, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m.

A longtime aviator, Kenny is no stranger to risk-taking. After years of playing professionally with groups like Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra and Jeff Lorber Fusion, Kenny signed with Artista Records in 1982 and three critically-acclaimed jazz albums later, he was on his way to stardom.

Kenny’s big moment came in 1988 on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. That night he launched into “Songbird,” the landmark of his fourth album Duotones, and a star was born. From there, Kenny went on to become a multi-platinum sensation, collaborating with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Frank Sinatra. His next studio albums, Silhouette and Breathless were extremely successful, the latter becoming the biggest selling instrumental record in U.S. history with more than 12 million copies sold.

In 1994, Kenny broke another record with his holiday compilation, Miracles. The album was Kenny’s first to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, became the best-selling holiday album of all-time. In 1996, Kenny teamed with artist and producer Babyface for “The Moment” which featured two collaborations “Everytime I Close My Eyes” and “That Somebody Was You” with Toni Braxton. In 2002, Kenny took his audience to the islands with the soulful album Paradise, which featured the hit track “All the Way” with Brian McKnight. In 2004, Kenny delivered an all-guest-star album entitled At Last…The Duets Album featuring Barbara Streisand, Burt Bacharach, LeAnn Rimes and Earth, Wind and Fire.

With each new recording, Kenny begins from a personal place — the sounds that move him. On his most recent album, Rhythm and Romance, Kenny ventures into uncharted creative territory with his first Latin Jazz release. Over the past two decades, Kenny has established himself as the top-selling instrumental musician of the modern era with global sales totaling more than 75 million albums, with 45 million sold in the United States alone.

One of the most iconic and influential pop acts in the world, Pet Shop Boys, are coming to The new Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, September 26. They will be touring in support of their tenth album, Yes, recently released on astralwerks.

In a career spanning over 2 decades, the duo of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have created some of the most beloved and recognizable hits in the world (‘West End girls’, ‘It’s a sin’, ‘New York City boy’, etc.), and sold over 30 million records. They’ve worked with artists like Dusty Springfield, David Bowie, Liza Minnelli, Robbie Williams, Electronic, The Killers and Madonna. In the USA, Pet Shop Boys are the fourth most successful artist in the history of the Billboard dance charts (behind Madonna, Donna Summer and Janet Jackson).

Filled with sparkling state of the art pop songs, Yes is an affirmation of the duo’s knack for mixing innovative artistry with exuberant commercial appeal. Produced by the acclaimed Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Cher, Kylie Minogue, Saint Etienne), the album features guitar work by ex-Smith Johnny Marr and orchestral arrangements by Owen Pallett (Last Shadow Puppets, Final Fantasy). Never far from the public eye, Pet Shop Boys have been very busy lately: producing a #1 UK dance hit for Sam Taylor-Wood (released on the ultra-hip Kompakt label), remixing a track for Lady GaGa and co-writing the hit UK single ‘The Loving Kind’ for Girls Aloud. They are also working on a ballet, and were honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the Brit Awards.

The release of Yes will be preceded by the single “Love etc”. Pet Shop Boys describe the song as “a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we’ve done before.”

Kings Of Leon To Play The New Joint At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino August 19

After two sold out shows in the original Joint, Kings of Leon will return to Vegas to rock the brand new Joint on August 19. Joining them this time around will be the loud, fast and melodic rock of The Whigs.

Following their epic sold-out performance at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 29th and a highly successful spring arena tour, Kings of Leon continue to deliver incredible performances to sold-out crowds. They also recently performed on the MTV Movie Awards as one of only two artists asked, the other being Eminem. Kings of Leon thrive as one of the most popular artists to hit the music scene in recent years.

Nominated for three Grammy Awards (Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals), Kings of Leon have seen their latest release Only By The Night (RCA) take them to new levels, having sold almost four-million units worldwide. Dream Theater’s “Progressive Nation 2009″ Tour To Play The Joint At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Friday, August 28

New York metal veterans Dream Theater will be bringing their “Progressive Nation 2009″ tour to The new Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, August 28. Joining them for an incredible night of rock will be special guests Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain of Salvation and Beardfish.

Progressive Nation was created by Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. Portnoy hand-picked all of the bands for the 2009 bill based on their diversity and musicality. He comments: “This year’s lineup is so exciting for me. Every band is bringing something very unique to the package to create an incredibly well rounded musical experience. I am just as excited to be watching all the bands from the side of the stage as I am to be performing with mine in the center of it!”

Fresh on the heels of his Grammy win, Dweezil Zappa is pleased to announce his plans to join forces with Dream Theater as part of the Progressive Nation 2009 tour: “It’s no secret that I started Zappa Plays Zappa with the intention to diversify and expand the audience for my father’s music. I figured I’d probably have to do it one concert at a time. Playing with Dream Theater on the Progressive Nation tour is a great way to accomplish that goal. Music fans who are seeking something to challenge their senses should definitely consider attending this great bill.”

Sweden’s Pain of Salvation will bring their unique brand of cutting-edge progressive metal to PN09. Vocalist/Guitarist Daniel Gildenlow comments: “We are truly very happy to be part of the PN09 tour, and to be back in the States again and bring all the sweat and flesh to our music and our well deserving American fans. We feel honored to have been asked.”

Vocalist/Keyboardist Rikard Sjöblom of Beardfish is equally excited: “When we read on a website that Mike Portnoy had our album “Sleeping in Traffic Part 1″ among his favorite releases of 2007, we just couldn’t believe it and we were really happy about it! And now we once again gasp for air since we’ve been asked to join Progressive Nation 2009 together with Dream Theater (one of the biggest bands in this genre today!), Pain of Salvation (hey, fellow Swedes!!!) and Zappa Plays Zappa (being a HUGE Zappa fan myself, I think this is really cool!). Since we’ve only played the US once before we simply can’t wait to come over and rock out!”

Krug Announces The Creation Of The First Krug Room In The United States At Restaurant Guy Savoy At Caesars Palace Las Vegas

Representatives of Krug, the world’s premiere champagne, and acclaimed French chef Guy Savoy today announced the opening of The Krug Room at Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace Las Vegas – the first of its kind in the United States..

A proven success story. Krug Rooms are private dining rooms in exclusive locations around the world where groups can gather to enjoy superb cuisine, stimulating conversation and, of course, exceptional champagne. Opening Friday, June 5, at Restaurant Guy Savoy Caesars Palace, the Krug Room will be everything guests have always expected from the House of Krug – surprise, delight, discovery – a stunning experience that begins from the moment of arrival. Guests are escorted down a sleek wooden hallway through a discreet door into the restaurant’s Krug Room. The spacious room with its stunning contemporary art and elegant Krug-brand accessories is an intimate escape, offering a unique blend of privacy and glamour.

The Krug Room menu will change seasonally with a summer menu featuring a 6-course pairing menu highlighting culinary delights such as Colors of Caviar, Crispy Sea Bass with Delicate Spaces and the restaurant’s famed Artichoke with Black Truffle Soup served with Krug Vintages from 1985 through 1995. The Krug Room provides an exceptional dining adventure where guests experience a fusion of flavors through the encounter of the world’s most acclaimed Champagne, Krug, with the iconic dishes from one of the world’s greatest chefs, Guy Savoy.

Currently the only Krug “picnic” Trunk in the United States is on display at Restaurant Guy Savoy, featuring a chic collection of culinary and beverage accessories that might be associated with royal picnics. Taking 700 hours to make by hand, and is perfect in every detail – the Krug Trunk offers exciting discoveries, both inside and out. The dark brown foal-effect calfskin exterior is fitted with corners, hinges and handles in non-oxidizing nickel-plated brass to withstand long journeys. The trunk bears the Krug signature in nickel-plated lettering on its door, and may also be customized with the owner’s name or coat of arms.

The first Krug Room opened in May 2003 in London in the legendary Dorchester Hotel. The House of Krug then opened the Krug Room in Hong Kong’s flagship hotel, the Mandarin Oriental and the Krug Room in the sophisticated and vibrant Masamichi Katayama designed Restaurant Tanga in Tokyo.

It goes without saying Krug Rooms offer the entire range of Krug champagnes: Krug Grande Cuvée, Krug Rosé, Krug Vintage, Krug Collection and Krug Clos du Mesnil. Naturally, every Krug Room has its own individual style, reflecting the specificities of its setting and location. Equally remarkably, however, they all exude the same distinctive ambiance – at once intimate and inspiring – that is the perfect complement to the experience of Krug champagne.

ABOUT THE HOUSE OF KRUG

Since 1843, with unique single-mindedness and sense of purpose, the Krug family have proudly cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne. Theirs is a living legend, a certain idea of excellence that has been quietly redefined through six generations without a break.

Krug’s founder, Johann-Joseph Krug, was a maverick who turned his back on a comfortable position in an established champagne house to strike out on his own. He had not only the vision, but also the talent, to achieve his ambition of creating a champagne with a taste quite unlike any other.

Subsequent generations of the Krug family not merely honored his achievement, but amplified it, bringing genuine pride and passion to their craft. From meticulous grape selection, through the birth of the wine in small oak casks, to the intricate process of “assemblage”, followed by long years of aging in the cellars, Krug champagne is the culmination of painstaking care and unrivalled craftsmanship. The result is a taste that is instantly identifiable and utterly unforgettable – a breathtaking abundance of flavors, an extraordinary contrast of richness and freshness, power and finesse. Not only is Krug a personal favorite of experts and connoisseurs, it is regarded the world over as the ultimate expression of discernment and individuality.

Krug is the only leading house to produce exclusively Prestige Cuvées, and each of the five champagnes in its range reflects this uncompromising philosophy. Krug Grande Cuvée is the timelessly stylish signature of Krug and the supreme demonstration of the art of blending. Krug Rosé is vibrant and provocative, seamlessly fusing the elegant Krug style with an excitement all its own. Krug Vintage is a statement – Krug’s definitive, one-off interpretation of the character of an outstanding year. Krug Collection represents the last bottles available of an exceptional past vintage, carefully stored in the cellars in Reims, then re-released in celebration of the legendary longevity of Krug champagne. Krug Clos du Mesnil is the one exception to the Krug rule of blending, since it is the product, not merely of a single grape variety and a single year, but of a single historic vineyard.

The House of Krug today is the result of a continuity – of vision, of craftsmanship, of commitment – that is an absolute rarity in any time or place. Succeeding generations of the Krug family have fostered, and continue to foster, the authentic spirit of Krug. To discover Krug is to share in that spirit, to sense that passion, to experience something truly exceptional. Intense, inspiring, individual, Krug is a revelation every time.
