“We present our guests with an assortment of flavored sea salts which can be used to enhance their selected courses,” said Chef Aaron Losch of ENVY The Steakhouse. “Much like a wine-pairing, you can bring out the complex flavors of a particular meal by simply adding a pinch of salt.”

Sea salts provides a number of advantages over everyday table salt, including the texture, flavor and health benefits it offers. Table salt contains fine granules and therefore dissolves quickly where as sea salt has larger, more irregular grains, which when sprinkled on foods, add a crunch and enhanced flavor. In addition to providing immense flavor to a meal, sea salt holds potential constitutional benefits such as stabilizing blood sugar levels, regulating the heart, purifying the body and protecting it from disease. Diners at ENVY are presented with an assortment of sea salts to choose from including:

1. Himalayan Sea Salt, a rich mineral deposit from an ancient ocean where the Himalayans now stand, contains 74 trace minerals, is not processed with chemicals and contains no preservatives or additives.

2. Alaea Hawaiian Red Clay Sea Salt is a traditional Hawaiian sea salt used to preserve and season while roasting or grilling meat to provide a savory, unique and pleasant flavor.

3. Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt is ideal for meats, seafood and fruits because of its silky, full-bodied texture.

4. The Himalayan Pink Sea Salts clean crystals are the highest quality sea salt available and contain natural properties to heal the body and relax the mind.

“At ENVY The Steakhouse, we are committed to providing our guests with the finest dining experience and highest quality food,” said Anett Mindermann, general manager. “We take pride in continually seeking out new ways to raise the standard in fine dining and sea salt offerings are our latest culinary innovation.”

The Dixie Cups Are Taking It Back to the ’60s, Performing At Marilyn’s Lounge Inside The Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel

American pop trio, The Dixie Cups, will bring their all-girl vocals to The Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. The ’60s pop music group will perform their number one hit “Chapel of Love” inside Marilyn’s Lounge at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door on the day of the show.

Sisters, Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins and cousin, Joan Marie Johnson, began performing together in grade school before being signed to a record label as The Dixie Cups. The single swiftly ascended to the top of the charts where it spent three weeks at number one, earning the group their first gold record, knocking out The Beatles’ “Love Me Do.”

The Dixie Cups’ next release, “People Say,” garnered a second gold record for the group and several hit singles quickly followed, including “You Should Have Seen the Way He Looked At Me,” “Little Bell” and “Iko Iko.” In April 2007, The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame honored The Dixie Cups for their contributions to Louisiana music by inducting them into The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame. Today, The Dixie Cups continue to perform on the concert circuit, thrilling audiences with their pristine harmonies. Current members of the trio are the original Hawkins sisters, Barbara and Rosa, and Athelgra Neville, sister of the singing Neville Brothers.

Paul Anka Returns To The Orleans Showroom May 8-10

With more than 125 albums, 15 million records sold and 22 Top 20 hits, Paul Anka has been one of the most influential voices in pop music since emerging as a teen idol in the 1950s. On May 8, 9 and 10, Anka will be bringing his incomparable sound to The Orleans Showroom for a three-night engagement.

Paul Anka Tickets

As a young man, Anka always knew he wanted to be a singer and songwriter. He received his big break in 1957, when he recorded “Diana.” The song became one of the best-selling 45s in music history, rocketing to No. 1 on the music charts and bringing Anka worldwide fame. He followed up with four No. 1 songs in 1958 including, “It’s Time to Cry,” and “(All of a Sudden) My Heart Sings,” turning the then-17-year-old into one of the biggest teen idols of all time. Two years later, at the age of 20, Anka made his first Las Vegas appearance at the Sahara Hotel.

Though the music world shifted in the 1960s, Anka was determined not to fade from the scene. Between tours of Europe and Asia, where his popularity remained high, Anka began building a reputation as one of pop music’s most gifted songwriters. In 1962, he penned the theme song to The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, creating what became one of the most recognized theme songs in television history. But it was a song that he wrote for Frank Sinatra – 1969′s “My Way” – that helped catapult Anka back to stardom in the United States.

While continuing to create some of the music world’s best-known songs (including “She’s A Lady” by Tom Jones), Anka returned to his chart-topping ways through the 1970s and 1980s, recording such hits as the No. 1 “(You’re) Having My Baby,” “One Man Woman, One Woman Man,” “I Don’t Like to Sleep Alone,” “(I Believe) There’s Nothing Stronger Than Love,” “Times of Your Life,” and “Hold Me ‘Til The Morning Comes.”

To date, Anka has 900 songs to his credit, including 130 written for other artists (including Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Robbie Williams, Buddy Holly and Donny Osmond). His latest album, Classic Songs, My Way features Anka giving his unique touch and sound to songs by such artists as Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams and the Killers, closing with a duet performance of “My Way” by Anka and Jon Bon Jovi.
