Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock met in 1975 while performing in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Later that year, the duo formed Air Supply and released their first smash hit and self-titled debut album, reaching gold in Australia. After opening for Rod Stewart’s tour in the United States in the late ’70s, Air Supply had an international breakthrough and signed a distribution deal with Artista Records in 1980.

Their album, Lost in Love, featured three U.S. top five singles, including the title track, which was the fastest-selling single in the world; “Every Woman in the World”; and “All Out of Love,” which hit No. 11 in the United Kingdom’s Top 40 charts. Over the next three years, Air Supply produced hit after hit, including “Just Another Woman,” “The One That You Love,” “Here I Am,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Even The Nights Are Better” and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts in 1983.

Producing 30 albums and more than 15 hit singles, Air Supply has become a worldwide sensation, touring in Australia, Asia, India, the United States and the Caribbean. In 2008, as the only Australian band on the list, Air Supply was named No. 83 on Billboard’s top 100 musical acts of all time.

Proud Poker Tradition Continues At Binion’s With 3rd Annual Poker Classic

The advent of Summer brings more poker to Las Vegas than any other time of year.  Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel, with an unmatched poker lineage in both years and reputation, will usher in the season with the 3rd Annual Binion’s Poker Classic.  Tournament play begins May 25 and culminates with a two-day No Limit Hold’em main event July 7 and 8.  All-in-all, Binion’s will seat players for 45 different events over 45 straight days.

With the wide variety of games and affordable buy-ins that characterize the Binion’s Poker Classic, players of all levels are sure to find events in which to compete.  The ever-popular No Limit Hold’em is the most featured, with 29 events scheduled, including Ladies Only on June 4.  New to the schedule this year are Crazy Pineapple and a second H.O.R.S.E event.  The Championship Event will take place July 7 and 8 and has the highest buy-in of the Poker Classic at $1,000.  Some events are as little as $100 buy-ins, while most fall within $150-$300 range with three $500 events.

“The players appreciate Binion’s highly qualified staff and the very reasonable buy-ins at the Poker Classic, especially when it helps build their bankroll for World Series of Poker events,” said Brad Thomte, Binion’s tournament director. “The schedule at Binion’s is about two days ahead of the Rio, so players get a great value and a little practice at the same time.”

Generally, the buy-ins at the Binion’s Poker Classic are about one-tenth of the World Series of Poker events.  Registered players in this year’s Poker Classic also will be extended a special room rate.  To participate in any of the Binion’s Poker Classic events, players simply register the day of the event in which they would like to play.  For No Limit Hold’em events, registration opens three hours prior to the start time.  For all other games, registration opens two hours ahead of time.  Last year, 8,400 people played in the Poker Classic.

Pauly Shore, Kenny Chesney & DJ AM Spotted At The Palms Casino Las Vegas

Actor and comedian Pauly Shore dined at N9NE Steakhouse inside Palms Casino Resort Saturday night (4.25.09).  He sat in the lounge with a friend around 11:30 p.m. and enjoyed a glass of wine, accompanied with the signature rock shrimp and spice crusted big tuna.  Shore then made his way over to Playboy Club with his manager and two friends.  They sat at a table and drank Ketel One.  He was seen taking photos with a few fans.

Also at Playboy Club was Emmy Award nominated actor Masi Oka and actor best known for his role in the hit TV series, Heroes, Milo Anthony Ventimiglia.  The two partied with eight others, drank Ketel One and cranberry and joked amongst themselves for most of the night.

Wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Jr. hung out at Playboy Club with his wife and two friends.  They enjoyed a couple rounds of drinks.

On Friday night (4.24.09) N9NE Group and Palms Casino Resort welcomed new resident DJ and turntable phenom DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) at Rain Nightclub.  DJ AM played into the night for a packed crowd.  Recognized for being home to the legendary Paul Oakenfold and his weekly Saturday night production, “Perfecto Las Vegas,” Rain Nightclub now houses two of the largest deejay residencies in the nation under one roof with the addition of DJ AM.

Kenny Chesney was also spotted inside ghostbar Friday night joined by a group of friends at a VIP table.

The first-ever World Series of Slots™ tournament, held at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino April 17-19, welcomed 280 competitors battling head to head through eight exciting rounds, and gave away a total of $262,000 in prize money.

San Diego resident Michele Leone walked away with the $100,000 grand prize and championship bracelet for her slot victory, followed by Vera Panjanon-Wolf in second place with $15,000, Arsenio Mata in third place winning $10,000 and Lien Phan rounding out the top four with $8,000 in prize money.

A guest of the hotel, Leone came to Las Vegas just for the World Series of Slots™ tournament. She said she was “intrigued by the one-on-one competition.” So were many, based on the larger-than-expected attendance at the event.

In addition to the big-money top prizes, players not advancing past the first round were eligible for a special $10,000 Bonus Tournament, where each guest played one 20-minute session. Robert Aiu, of Hawaii, won the $10,000 winner-take-all prize pool by hitting triple red sevens in the last five seconds of play, moving his score to the top for the bonus win.

Cash prizes were awarded for advancing through each round. Participants won $500 for advancing to round two, then an additional $150 for each round, thereafter. Players not advancing to round two received $200, as well as the entry into the bonus tournament. The top four winners received all round-advance winnings plus an additional $8,000 for fourth place, $10,000 for third place, $15,000 for second place and $100,000 for the Grand Prize winner, plus the championship bracelet.
