Tickets Expected To Disappear Fast For World Stars Of Magic At The Suncoast Showroom May 29-31

Nearly a decade after sharing a stage as a spellbinding trio act, illusionists Mark Kalin and Jinger Leigh are back with comedian and magician Jeff Hobson for World Stars of Magic at the Suncoast Showroom for three 7:30 p.m. performances May 29, 30 and 31.

These magicians made a name for themselves in the ’90s when they mesmerized audiences in Spellbound on the Las Vegas Strip. They later starred in the critically acclaimed Carnival of Wonders in various Reno showrooms, where they amazed and entertained through a showcase of magic, comedy and spectacle.

The unbelievable illusions will continue in World Stars of Magic, where the entertainers will introduce a talking-head illusion. Arriving audience members will encounter the living, breathing and talking head – with no body – as they find their seats in the Suncoast Showroom and prepare for an evening of mind-boggling marvels.

Early in their career Kalin and Jinger established a rapport that bucked the traditional “magician and assistant” roles. Their signature illusions, the Fire Spiker, Circle of Fire and the heart-stopping Sawing-in-Half illusion, earned them a reputation that set the stage for a successful career in the competitive world of magic. As they began creating their own shows in the mid-’90s, Kalin and Jinger earned accolades and set records in showrooms throughout the United States.

Working with comedy magician Jeff Hobson — called “a hilarious, chameleon-esque master of entertainment” by Time magazine — gave Kalin and Jinger the chance to combine breathtaking magic with comedy to captivate audiences. Hobson has been the master of ceremonies for numerous shows including The World’s Greatest Magic Show and V-The Ultimate Variety Show.

Respected around the globe as powerful performers and creative, trend-setting magicians, the stars of World Stars of Magic suspend belief and leave audiences wanting more.

Tickets are now available starting from $19.95, plus tax. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 702.636.7075

11th Annual Tee It Up Classic Golf Tournament May 17-18

The 11th annual Tee It Up Classic golf tournament will attract golfers from across the country to the Las Vegas Golf Club on May 17 and 18. Las Vegas has long been a stop for the Professional Golf Association, Ladies Professional Golf Association and the PGA Seniors Tour, and on any given day is host to numerous local and regional tournaments. What makes this tournament different is that each year more than one-third of the field is comprised of individuals with physical disabilities.

Open to both residents and visitors age 16 and older, the tournament will be played at the Las Vegas Golf Club, 4300 W. Washington Ave., beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, and at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 18. The $100 registration fee per player includes two rounds of golf, buffet and awards luncheon, and the opportunity to win door prizes and raffle drawings. Advance registration for the tournament is required, although registrations will be accepted until the tournament is full. Interested players can contact Joe Schifflett at (702) 497-3673 or by e-mail at jschifflett@lasvegasnevada.gov for information and reservations. Registration is available online at www.teeitupclassic.com.

The competitive format is played over 36 holes. The tournament utilizes a two-person best-ball format on the first day, and a two-person scramble on the second day. Each team is comprised of two players. After the first round of competition, the field is divided into two flights. The second day, players compete in their respective flights for first, second and third place. Golf’s index system makes it a perfect medium for competitive play among individuals of varying abilities.

The city of Las Vegas first hosted the event in 1998, and through the generosity of a United States Golf Association grant purchased 10 single-rider golf carts that are available for the tournament, the city’s adaptive golf program, and for vacationers who may be looking to play a round or two. This year, the Tee It Up Classic is sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Disabled Sports and Paralympic Sports of Las Vegas. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund sports programs for people with physical disabilities.

The Tee It Up Classic was awarded the 2002 Nevada Recreation and Park Society’s Program Excellence Award for Inclusive Program, and to date has drawn participants from five countries and 32 different states. The tournament is held each year at the Las Vegas Golf Club.

Aerosmith With Special Guests ZZ Top At MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, July 25

The rock event of the summer is coming to Las Vegas when one of America’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands, AEROSMITH, rejoins forces with Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®. Aerosmith has sold more than 150 million albums, won four Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The massive AEROSMITH tour, presented by Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®, will stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, July 25. The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with special guests ZZ Top.

Aerosmith Tickets

AEROSMITH, featuring Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums), made history last year when Activision released Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®. This marked the first music-based game built around the legendary music of Aerosmith. The groundbreaking partnership united “America’s greatest hard rock act” (Mojo, May ’07) with the massively successful video game franchise. Sales exploded and broke records with AEROSMITH reaching a new generation of fans.

This summer’s dates follow AEROSMITH’s 2007 worldwide tour that encompassed 35 dates in 20 countries, including their first-ever concert in India. Highlights included the band headlining a crowd of 50,000 fans on the second night of Hard Rock Café’s London Calling event in Hyde Park. Known for its incomparable chemistry and trademark electrifying performances, AEROSMITH also triumphantly performed in packed stadiums in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico, and culminated their overseas domination with two unforgettable shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.

For more than 30 years AEROSMITH has defined American rock ‘n’ roll. The band has earned countless awards including four Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards and 12 MTV Awards. The band has performed electrifying sold-out concerts around the world and has a worldwide fan-base numbering in the millions. The members of AEROSMITH remain creatively vital and are the platinum standard for artistic and commercial success in the music business. Through it all, they have undeniably withstood the test of time. AEROSMITH also is currently in studio working on a new album. For more information on the group as well as fan club tickets visit www.aeroforceone.com.

Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, special guest ZZ Top features Billy F Gibbons (guitar/vocals), Dusty Hill (bass/vocals) and Frank Beard (drums). The band formed in 1969 and played its first show in February 1970 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Beaumont, Texas. The personnel line-up for “that little ole’ band from Texas” has not changed in the intervening years, a claim which no other major band can make. Along the way, the band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004), named Official Heroes of the State of Texas (1986) and cited for Best Group Video and Best Direction at the first MTV Video Music Awards. Texas Governor Ann Richards also declared May 4, 1991 as “ZZ Top Day” in their home state.

ZZ Top performed at the 1997 Super Bowl halftime show and their landmark album, Eliminator, was in the first group of recordings to achieve RIAA’s Diamond status in recognition of domestic sales in excess of 10 million units. Their latest album, Live From Texas, was released last year and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s music DVD chart.

The band members attribute their consistency to the fact that they are “the same three guys playing the same three chords.” AEROSMITH’s Joe Perry also said, “I have always been a huge fan of ZZ Top. I toured with them with the Joe Perry Project and those shows were unforgettable. With ZZ Top on this bill, it will definitely kick us into overdrive.”
