Exhibit Brings Call To Arms To Winchester Gallery – Chad Brown’s ‘Your Move’ Opens Feb. 17

Artist Chad Brown brings his fusion of architectural imagery and abstract techniques to the Winchester Gallery beginning Feb. 17. An artist reception will be held in his honor from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the gallery, located inside the Winchester Cultural Center at 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The exhibit will continue at the gallery through April 17.

Brown, who has presented a number of exhibits in the Las Vegas valley during the last few years, reintroduces his “every man” figure, clad in a white shirt and black pants, into a new collection of paintings. Although looser than previous depictions, the appearance of his “every man” is “a call to arms” for viewers. The connection between this figure and the often chosen similar dress of President Barack Obama is a poignant statement for the artist. Brown’s intent is to suggest a space that asks the viewer to consider how they can participate in this new era. The collection also will include a 30-foot mural designed specifically for the curved wall of the gallery space.

Brown earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2006. That same year, he received the Wally Goodman and Patrick Duffy Best in Show award for his work in the 55th Art Roundup Juried Exhibition at the Las Vegas Art Museum. Recently, Brown participated in a two-person show at the Dust Gallery.

Clark County Parks and Recreation sponsors the exhibit with partial funding from the Nevada Arts Council. The Winchester Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is closed on Mondays.

Those interested in “your move” by Chad Brown can call the Winchester Cultural Center at 455-7340 or visit the Web site at www.accessclarkcounty.com/parks.

Country Rock Legend Kenny Chesney To Play The New Joint At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Saturday, April 25

Country great Kenny Chesney will be bringing his Sun City Carnival 2009 Tour to Las Vegas this spring and will be joined by Miranda Lambert & Lady Antebellum. Chesney will play The New Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, April 25.

Kenny Chesney Tickets

As the staging is getting built, the scrims screened and the video shot and edited, Kenny Chesney is gearing up for his Sun City Carnival 2009 Tour. Following his Poets & Pirates Tour – the most attended tour in any genre of music for 2008 according to Pollstar – the man who’s already sold out the home of the New England Patriots, Boston’s Gillette Stadium, in less than 10 minutes is looking to pick up the tempo, rock a little harder and increase the fun, friends and music.

To that end, the 4-consecutive and reigning Academy of Country Music and 4-time and current Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year has looked at his tourmates very carefully – and invited trail blazer country star Miranda Lambert and CMA Horizon winners Lady Antebellum to join his Carnival for the entire summer!

“This tour is going to be a wild ride,” laughs the singer/songwriter from Luttrell, Tennessee who’s been joined onstage by Steve Miller, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Walsh, Kid Rock, Payton Manning and a tuba player. “Miranda came out and did a few shows with us, and the energy is the right stuff… She rocks hard, but she’s country from a place most people forget it’s coming from. And she knows how to have fun, which is as much a part of it as anything.”

Lambert, whose platinum album Kerosene debuted at #1 on the country charts and whose Crazy Ex-Girlfriend won the ACM Album of the Year, is a Texas girl who can pack a punch. Known for her captivating awards show performances, frank songwriting and unbridled concerts, she holds down the second slot on the Sun City Carnival.

Lady Antebellum, who won the 2008 CMA Horizon Award and the 2008 ACM Best New Duo/Group Award, will kick off the party each night. Comprised of lead singer Charles Kelley, vocalist/guitarist/mandolinist Dave Hayward and lead singer Hillary Scott, the trio is also Grammy nominated for Best New Artist.

“You can’t hear ‘Love Don’t Live Here’ and not turn up the radio,” says the man who’s sold over a million tickets each of the past 7 summers. “That was a feel good record, and it seems to match the spirit Lady Antebellum puts out there. They’re fresh and fun and are perfect to start this show.”

“It’s like throwing a party,” Chesney admits. “You wanna get the mix just right… have the music that fits the mood… and I think these acts do that. I’ve been lucky to have people who’ve we brought out with us that are about show, about the fans – whether it was Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts, Montgomery Gentry or Carrie Underwood – all of those acts got it, connected and just made the summers they were out here with us everything you’d want a summer to be.”

With “Down The Road” quickly approaching Top 10 – looking to follow Chesney’s multiple week #1 “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven” from his all genre Top 200 debut Lucky Old Sun in – the summer looks to be hot and getting hotter. Having already sold out his first football stadium, look for a complete tour announcement shortly.

MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris Welcomes Kristal D’Arc, The First American Dancer To Join The Prestigious Troupe

MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris is proud to announce the debut of Kristal D’Arc, the first American dancer to join the illustrious French cabaret. Kristal earned her position within the esteemed dance troupe by winning the American auditions held in Las Vegas in March 2008 along with celebrity guest judge Dita Von Teese.

Crazy Horse Paris Tickets

D’Arc was selected to join Crazy Horse Paris after an arduous process where the auditioning women performed various forms of dance in front of the judges. Once D’Arc was offered the opportunity to join the legendary ensemble, she flew to Paris and trained with the dance company for three months. She learned all of the intricate and sophisticated movements and styles associated with the Crazy Horse Paris show.

Prior to joining Crazy Horse Paris, D’Arc held various positions in dance, including performing as a Rockette and entertaining on cruise ships sailing around the world. She decided to leave the entertainment industry to obtain a hotel management degree and was well on her way to graduation when she discovered Crazy Horse Paris. This was the first dance audition for which she tried out in more than three years.

D’Arc’s induction into the Crazy Horse family marks the first time an American dancer has become part of the internationally renowned Parisian dance troupe. To become a member of the legendary cabaret is to become part of its history. Since its inception in 1951 in Paris, Crazy Horse has been a cultural phenomenon offering unique shows that engage the eye as much as the imagination. Crazy Horse shows rely on raw body talent and beauty rather than technology and combine sensuous choreography with various luminary and projection effects to create a moving canvas of skin; where reflections and images meet in a kaleidoscope of colors and textured designs.

MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris performs nightly at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., dark Tuesdays. Guests must be at least 18 years of age to attend the show.
