Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel, iconic among poker players for its unmatched legacy in the game, today opens a brand-new poker room to build on its tradition and history as the place that made poker famous. Binion’s new poker room features 10 tables in a contemporary setting designed to make players feel right at home while experiencing excellent service and some of the best deals in the game including a max rake of $3 on all live games, $2 comps per hour of live poker play, tableside food service and special room rates.
 
“There’s a certain prestige associated with Binion’s poker, but the main reason poker players stay loyal to Binion’s is that we’re always moving forward with their wants in mind,” said Glenn Casale, director of casino operations for Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel. “When we were designing the new poker room, every concept was developed based on what our players had asked for—we even got their input on what kind of chairs they would like the most. The new Binion’s poker room combines the nostalgia of the renowned Binion’s heritage with the modern direction of the game. Historic photos are spaced around the room with eleven 42 and 50-inch plasma televisions for player viewing and entertainment. The Binion’s Gallery of Champions and Poker Hall of Fame are located in the upscale concierge area, where available games are presented on electronic boards. The new room is flanked by two full-service bars featuring cocktails and video poker.
 
Binion’s new poker room is yet another step completed in a series of refurbishments to the legendary property. Since the acquisition of Binion’s by TLC Casino Enterprises in March 2008, Binion’s has opened a new race and sports book, introduced the stylish new Benny’s Bullpen Sports Bar & Cigar Lounge and revamped its beloved $1 Million Display. In keeping with Binion’s reputation for some of the most player-friendly gaming around, Binion’s has improved its odds on blackjack and craps, added new table games, reconfigured the casino floor, and is nearing one hundred percent completion to Ticket In Ticket Out technology on all slot and video poker machines. More projects are expected to come online through the end of 2008 and early 2009 including a complete remodeling of all 366 guest rooms.

Music, film and television legend Reba McEntire will host the 44th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS for the 11th time.  She has won 11 Academy of Country Music Awards including the first annual Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award for her outstanding philanthropic work.

“King of Country” George Strait will receive the Academy’s ARTIST OF THE DECADE award in recognition of his record-breaking career spanning nearly 25 years.  Only four acts have been honored as ARTIST OF THE DECADE in the Academy’s history including Marty Robbins in 1969, Loretta Lynn in 1979, Alabama in 1988 and Garth Brooks in 1998.  Strait has won 19 Academy of Country Music Awards including Entertainer of the Year in 1990.   Strait holds the record for the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and currently has 56 No. 1 singles to his credit.  He has sold more than 68 million records, garnering him 32 platinum and multi-platinum albums.  The result is the most RIAA platinum certification in country music and the third in all genres, behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley.  His current album, Troubadour, is certified gold.

Texas rock band, Fastball, will take the stage at The Canyon Club Las Vegas on Friday, November 13 with doors opening at 9:30 pm. Fastball will be opened by jazz and blues talent, Greg Medoro, a Las Vegas favorite. The Canyon Club is located inside the Four Queens Hotel & Casino.

In the words of band member Tony Scalzo, Fastball is a song-oriented guitar band committed to putting out quality guitar rock songs. Fastball had already achieved a popular following in their native Austin, Texas when in 1998, the band released the album, All the Pain Money Can Buy, that yielded platinum sales and two Grammy Award nominations. The album’s first-released single, “The Way,” stayed on top of Billboard’s Modern Rock chart for seven weeks and was a top five hit on Billboard’s Top 40. Since their breakthrough days, Fastball has toured extensively and released two more studio albums with another in the works.

Grammy award-nominated Kid Rock released several successful albums including Devil Without A Cause in ‘98 which includes smash hits, “Bawitdaba,” “Cowboy” and “Only God Knows Why” in addition to becoming Diamond Award certified by RIAA with more than 10 million copies sold. The History Of Rock album released in 2000 hit number two on the Billboard Album Chart as well as receiving triple platinum certification by RIAA as more than three million fans ran out to purchase the follow up album. Cocky, quickly released one year later, includes a top ten hit Rock sang with Sheryl Crow entitled, “Picture” – showing a softer, country influenced side of Rock. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino hosted its topping-off ceremony for the new North Tower Friday, Oct. 24. A crane lifted the traditional evergreen tree and American flag to the top of the structure as hundreds of team members, executives and construction workers looked on.

“This is a monumental occasion for the Hard Rock, and we are very pleased to celebrate this expansion milestone,” said Yale Rowe, senior vice president and general manager of operations for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. “We have great faith in the resiliency of Las Vegas and while much of our attention is focused on current market conditions, we continue to position the Hard Rock for the future.  We are fortunate to be well-funded with partners who have not wavered in their commitment to the redevelopment of the Hard Rock.”

Part of Hard Rock’s widely publicized $750 million expansion project, the new hotel tower is slated for completion in September 2009. The 17-story building will feature 479 guest rooms, state-of-the-art meeting space, and ten luxurious “pool suites” on the main level offering direct access to Hard Rock’s world famous Beach Club swimming pool. Crowning the tower will be a decadent 3400 square-foot Penthouse.

The event also marked the property’s progress and uninterrupted construction since announcing plans to expand last year. More than 700 construction workers and executives from MJ Dean Construction and its subcontractors attended the three-hour event, celebrating their accomplishment with a catered barbeque, raffles and entertainment.

DETAILS: The Las Vegas Great Santa Run serves as a fundraising effort to benefit Opportunity Village, an attempt to break the current world record for the largest Santa gathering and to provide a light spirited warm-up run for participants in the Las Vegas Marathon the following day.

OTHER: The current world record for the Santa Run was set in 2005 with 3,291 participants in the Liverpool Santa Dash in the UK. Opportunity Village expects at least 15,000 participants this year.
